Tyler—you'll never guess—is trying to get Lo out of Jim's grasp, and is apt to (drunkenly, high-out-of-her-mind-edly) go maybe a bit overboard in this pursuit. It could easily leave the reader mired in despair but, with great skill, and by recounting his own personal journey, mistakes and recent decisions, Simmons illuminates a path towards redemption.

Just a side note: the nonlinear writing style can be disorienting, but it fits the book and tone really well in my opinion.
His book is a welcome contribution to debates about the use and abuse of animals and will surely serve to prompt further discussion. With tons of bitesize facts to make you go "wow", plus totally wild activities, the animal kingdom is waiting for you!
