About this deal

Installation and removal are a breeze, making Bar Mitts the perfect accessory for any eBiker looking to stay comfortable in chilly weather. The terrain turned to rolling and we soon were plowing through some four feet of powder, descending as though we were on skis. Most purchases from business sellers are protected by the Consumer Contract Regulations 2013 which give you the right to cancel the purchase within 14 days after the day you receive the item. The Bar Mitts, however, are more like neoprene pockets that fold over and enclose your brake levers and hoods, close around the bar using velcro yet keep an opening for easy hand insertion and removal.

But once you’re riding in freezing temperatures with warm hands, you’ll be way less worried about how they look. They are pretty simple to install, although it takes a few times to learn the trick to get them on easily, but once accustomed to installing them, it only takes a few minutes.Neoprene polychloroprene is a synthetic rubber, that was invented by DuPont scientists in 1930, and is produced by polymerization of chloroprene (C4H5Cl). However, with the pogies, I rode in temps down into the teens, including riding into a brutal headwind whipping down off the Sawatch mountain range. My hands were toasty warm, no matter what Mother Nature was tossing at me, whether it was the cold, snow or wind.

Note: If you have a Side-Mounted Display like the 500C, DM07 or KTLCD5 you will not be able to view the screen while using these. Different versions and sizes of Bar Mitts are available for road bicycles with drop handlebars and for mountain / commuter bicycles with flat handlebars.

The zipper isn’t seam sealed like you would see on a rain jacket, but if conditions are bad enough to wear these mitts, any precipitation has probably long turned to snow or hail. However, if I wasn’t using electronic shifting, I don’t think the smalls would have enough space for a full shift lever movement. As one can imagine, not being on the shifter and brake levers had its downfalls especially when it came to descents and emergency braking. Mind you, I’ve only tested that feature in my garage, but there’s more space all around to support this.

This past week I used the Extreme Bar Mitts in temperatures ranging from a -5F windchill up to a balmy 20F.I finally found a pair that has "Hi-Vis" coloring; previous pairs were mostly black with reflective elements.

I have always found that I can bundle up the main body (trunk, legs and arms) and keep it warm on cold rides, but my hands and feet always seem to get chilled.

I’ve struggled with neuropathy and Raynaud’s symptoms for years and the Bar Mitts shield allowed me to ride in freezing temperatures without pain, numbness or post-ride tears. Lowest temps I've biked in was 8F-12F and the only gloves that worked for me was an old bulky pair of Primaloft-filled skiing gloves. Bar Mitts are neoprene hand covers for cold weather riding, that attach to your handlebars, and provide enough protection and warmth, that a lighter glove can be worn. However, the ease of moving your hands in and out of the pogies depends largely on whether or not you have the cuffs installed. They are easy to get in and out of, so you can actually eat and drink on your ride without having to take your massive winter gloves off.
