Because David Lynch already approved a 4k remaster of Fire Walk With Me for the 2014 Blu-ray, Criterion licensed that master and has apparently not touched a pixel of it. The 1080p/AVC MPEG-4 encode on this disc looks frame-for-frame identical to the prior copy. For the most part, that's a good thing. The image is perhaps a little soft at times, but has pretty good detail (witness that you can tell the blue rose pinned to Lil's dress is artificial) and preservation of grain structure. Colors and contrast look very nice. Two Versions of Series Pilot (Disc 1, HD): Both the original 94-minute U.S. broadcast cut and alternate 113-minute international The Criterion disc carries over the DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 remix that David Lynch created in 2014. The Paramount/CBS Blu-ray had a small amount of sync error between the audio and the visuals. I didn't find it bad enough to be distracting, but other viewers were more bothered by it. That has been corrected here. Like Laura Palmer’s double life, it’s no secret to us that Twin Peaks is coming to Blu-ray. Since 2011, co-creator Mark Frost has repeatedly confirmed that a Blu-ray release was in progress, hinting several times at the possible inclusion of Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me and its deleted scenes. Recently, Bill Hunt from The Digital Bits said that multiple sources have indeed confirmed that the imminent Twin Peaks Blu-ray will not just include the complete series but the prequel movie as well.As far as the Blu-ray goes, the 8-disc box set has both strong video and audio. It also comes with a huge volume of behind-the-scenes material that would be more impressive if most of it weren't so dull.

This post was published a while ago. Please keep its age in mind and if you find any errors, feel free to comment. The rest of the story is the stuff of post-development hell. Lynch and Frost split. Irreconcilable differences. Key members of the cast parted While there were two previous DVD releases of Twin Peaks, the new Blu-ray release, called The Entire Mystery, still stands out for several reasons. First, of course, is the upgrade to HD, with a gorgeous looking re-mastered image that takes a show that always visually stood out and makes it look even more vibrant and lush. And then there’s the inclusion of the feature film prequel, Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me.

UPDATE #2: David Lynch himself has now confirmed the upcoming Twin Peaks Blu-ray release and we have it on video! When: Twin Peaks Blu-ray Release Date
