About this deal

Almost all tabletop games use a sliding scale to scale down larger objects. This is because if a large vehicle was at the exact same scale as a miniature, the battlefield itself would become overcrowded. It would be hard to fit all models onto the battlefield and the miniatures would have less space to move in. Stormtroopers Star Wars: Legion Core Set, but as a corps unit, you can include up to six units of Stormtroopers in your army. Their low cost of 44 points for a single squad also makes them one of your go-to options for filling out your army’s rank and file. Stormtroopers are foot soldiers for the Galactic Empire, which is led by Emperor Palpatine and his commanders, mainly Darth Vader and Grand Moff Tarkin. These soldiers are known to use brute force to achieve the Emperor's wishes. All stormtroopers have a strong, plastic-like armour that protects them from projectile weapons as well as dangerous environmental conditions. They also carry thermal detonators that can be set to explode between 6-18 seconds and also cannot be used against them. On top of this, they also have a grappling hook, an E-11 blaster rifle and a powerful DLT-19 heavy blaster rifle. They accompany the Imperial Navy and are deployed very fast in response to any civil unrest. So while the exact math points to Star Wars Legion miniatures being around 1:47 scale, official kits point to 1:48 scale. Both Bandai and Revell sell Star Wars model kits which are at 1:48 scale. They both also sell model kits at 1:52 and 1:53 scale which will also work well with Star Wars Legion. The sliding scale

Muster your units of Stormtroopers and prepare to march into battle! The power of the Galactic Empire will spread across the galaxy and the Imperial banner will fly above every planet. Look for the Stormtroopers Unit Expansion to release alongside the Star Wars: Legion Core Set and seven other expansions! We certainly wouldn’t shrink an AT-ST to 50% scale as it would look unbelievably small and affect both immersion and gameplay. A ubiquitous sight across the galaxy, white-armored stormtroopers strike fear into the hearts of all those who would oppose the Empire. Though their uniform armor and rigid tactics emphasize the crushing weight of Imperial might, Stormtroopers can be surprisingly flexible units that serve a multitude of roles in Imperial strike forces. Ultimately, no matter how you choose to equip your Stormtroopers, these squads fill out your Imperial armies, supporting mighty units like Darth Vader or an AT-ST as they stomp into battle. Though all Stormtrooper units begin using this same basic template, they have four available upgrade slots for you to customize each unit and make it unique: heavy weapon, personnel, grenades, and gear. Just like the Stormtroopers units included in the Core Set, the Stormtroopers Unit Expansion offers the same upgrades for your personnel and heavy weapon slots. By taking the Stormtrooper upgrade, you add another standard Stormtrooper miniature to the squad—giving your squad more firepower and making it harder for your opponent to completely destroy it.He worked out that the average height of a Stormtrooper is 5’11”. This means that a Stormtrooper falls into the category of a 75th percentile male. What scale are Star Wars Legion miniatures? Don’t fret the boo-boos. In I wrote in my beginner’s guide to painting miniatures, I am, indeed, a beginner painter. I won’t be winning any painting contests any time soon ever.

This expansion for Star Wars: Legion contains four unpainted and finely sculpted soft plastic Stormtrooper miniatures to enhance your existing Stormtrooper units or to form one corps unit, along with new heavy weapon and personnel upgrade options. There is of course the issue of the Stormtrooper armour. Up until now, we have been working on the height of a Stormtrooper without armour. That is because the eye height of a 75th percentile man is also taken without any shoes on. Using a hobby knife (or a simple x-acto knife if you’re doing this on the cheap), you should gently trim off all excess plastic. If you don’t know what to trim, then trim off everything that doesn’t look like a Stormtrooper. Duh. Alternatively, you may decide to bring in some specialists with armaments that make them much more dangerous than a standard Stormtrooper. Stormtrooper units have a single heavy weapon upgrade slot, and the same two heavy weapon miniatures are offered in the Stormtroopers Unit Expansion and the Core Set—theWithin this expansion, you’ll find four unpainted, uniquely sculpted soft plastic Imperial Stormtrooper miniatures to enhance your existing Stormtrooper units. Joining a Stormtrooper Captain are a Stormtrooper Specialist as well as a T-21 Stormtrooper and an RT-97C Stormtrooper that can both be constructed with their heavy weapons or the standard E-11 blaster rifle. These miniatures are accompanied by seven upgrade cards that allow you to incorporate them into your existing Stormtrooper units as well as a unit card inviting you to create a completely new unit. Recently, I’ve begun painting the Stormtrooper miniatures that come with Fantasy Flight Game’s Imperial Assault Base Set. The game is GLORIOUS, and the miniatures are GLORIOUS. But since the miniatures come unpainted, I needed to do something about that.

A ubiquitous sight across the galaxy, white-armoured stormtroopers strike fear into the hearts of all those who would oppose the Empire. Though their uniform armour and rigid tactics emphasise the crushing weight of Imperial might, Stormtroopers can be surprisingly flexible units that serve a multitude of roles in Imperial strike forces. Some of us just have to learn the hard way. But those of us who have traveled the path before, learning by trial-and-error, will gladly share our experience if it will keep a fellow nerd from falling flat on his face. I’ve touched the hot stove so we won’t have to. Trim the plastic. When plastic miniatures are molded there will occasionally be tiny slivers of plastic residue or a little extra plastic which builds up around the mold line. This extra plastic needs to be trimmed off because it distracts from the detail of the miniature.

So the sliding scale steps in to help out with this issue. It works by squeezing the scale of objects the larger they are. For example, small objects and vehicles that are either nearby miniatures or used by them will stay at the correct scale of 1:48. This makes them 100% scale as it is true to scale compared to the minis. The 35mm reference is due to the miniatures eye height, which is 35.7mm from the ground. Fun fact! What scale are the official Star Wars Legion model kits? I both highly recommend the game Imperial Assault ( you can learn more here) and also painting miniatures that are included. It’s like nerd meditation for this long time Star Wars fan. Being that Fantasy Flight Games (the company behind Star Wars Legion) won’t tell us the exact scale that they work to. It is very much up to us as fans of Star Wars Legion to work out the correct scale to print our miniatures, landscape and props. A DLT-19 Stormtrooper from the Star Wars: Legion Core Set or the Stormtroopers Unit Expansion, for example, can blast enemies—even those with armour—from beyond the range of a standard E-11 blaster rifle. Similarly, an RT-97C Stormtrooper found in the Imperial Stormtroopers Upgrade Expansion can maintain these long range shots while also producing a higher rate of fire.

So with a little maths, we can divide the actual eye height of a Stormtrooper (1678mm) by the eye height of the mini (35.7mm) and this will give us the rough scale of the minis themselves. The white-armored stormtrooper is a common sight on occupied worlds throughout the galaxy, so it only follows that it would also be a common sight on the battlefields of Star Wars: Legion. Mistakes are simply an opportunity to paint battle damage! I simply pretend the Rebellion hit him with a blaster shot, and paint the mistake area to reflect that.
