I was born in Berkshire and grew up in Reading, the youngest of three boys and a fully-fledged bookworm from a very young age. I read history at Westfield College, part of the University of London, and went on to do a postgrad at Cardiff University. And now, having finished the book and seeing that nothing came of these “ red flags” I felt like I was so smartly spotting, I presume that they weren’t deliberately included to indicate anything but were, instead, just an attempt to fatten up this character. Logan’s talent is no longer a secret. Lies is a tautly imagined and plotted thriller with a jaw-dropping ending, featuring an empathetic and sympathetic main character in Joe Lynch. Joe is truly a good man, devoted to his wife and son, committed to his profession (teaching), and honest. Through Joe’s first-person account of the nightmarish circumstances in which he finds himself, readers understand and can relate to his frustration, anger, and sheer terror at the prospect of being wrongly accused of committing a heinous crime. Assuming, that is, that Joe Lynch is a reliable narrator.

I expected an honest-to-god straightforward plotline of threats and mind games. Creepy, creepy, creepy, but a winner if you like thrillers.' * Woman's Way magazine * For me, this book was a chore to read, one that I struggled through and pushed myself to finish, not because it was a difficult read or anything like that (in fact, I found the writing on this one a bit too simplistic), but rather, I felt that the story never really took off. The premise had potential, as there aren’t too many books out there nowadays that incorporate modern technology (in the form of smartphones, tablets, laptops) and social media (i.e. Facebook) into a crime thriller – the technology in this case was front and center and in some instances, even became one of the focal “characters” in the story. Unfortunately, the execution didn’t really work for me – I felt that the plot was a bit all over the place (especially in the second half of the book), the characters were one-dimensional and written in a way that made all of them unlikable (with the exception of the kid William), and too many elements of the story just seemed implausible. Throughout most of the story, there just seemed to be way too much “explaining” going on by various characters, especially as it related to aspects of technology and social media, things that I felt were common sense enough in this day and age that such thorough explanations felt unnecessary. Parts of the story were also bogged down by what I felt were details that didn’t matter (for example, one of the characters taking out their smart phone, swiping over to an app, opening file manager, going through each folder, pulling up a file, closing it out, etc.) – it felt tedious, and for me, detracted from the telling of the main story.

In the business world, Ben can be ruthless. He also carries that take-no-prisoners approach into his love life. Rules? What rules? Nothing will stand in his way! When he gets into the parking garage, he finds that his wife, Mel, has already left the safety of the garage and, presumably, went into the hotel to which the garage is attached. Naturally, the desire to get Alan Hawthorne out of her life makes this offer very tempting. All she needs to do is make one 29 second phone call and the one thorn in her side will disappear. Will Sarah decide to take the man up on his offer? options – both dangerous. Think of all the people who have wronged you? Then you are given the opportunity for revenge against a sexual predator who is making your life a living hell. What would you do? Take the offer? On the fateful day that Joe sees his wife's car entering an underground car park, and decides to follow her, his life will never ever be the same again. He witnesses her arguing with family friend Ben, and life as he knew it will begin to unravel in a most spectacular fashion.

Oh.. Joseph Lynch... how naive you truly were. But, then again... I feel like we've all been there at one point or another in our lives. THAT moment when you see or know something that you would kill not too and your heart and gut just drop.... you act like it's nothing and yet it continues to haunt you day by day. Joe soon discovers that the barb of his wife's betrayal is just the beginning of what he's about to face in the following days to come. Sarah is a young professor struggling to prove herself in a workplace controlled by the charming and manipulative Alan Hawthorne. A renowned scholar and television host, Hawthorne rakes in million-dollar grants for the university where Sarah works—so his inappropriate treatment of female colleagues behind closed doors has gone unchallenged for years. And Sarah is his newest target. After all, why describe, in such detail, how Wills likes to play airport parking garage, lining up his cars by color again and again? Why tell us about his “I don’t want peas on my plate” mini-fit? Why include the scene in which he saw a man smoking and — because he knew smoking killed you — he expected him to fall down, dead, right that very moment? Wow, Lies is captivating from the start! Joe happens upon his wife when she is supposed to be at work. He follows her into a hotel where he sees her in an argument with a friend of theirs, Ben.

I loved the character development and I thought it was very well written. I can't wait to read his next book and can't wait to read Lies.I knew I wanted to write so journalism seemed an obvious choice, and after five years as a reporter and then education correspondent on the Nottingham Evening Post I moved to London to work on the Daily Mail. At the Mail I became the paper’s Science Reporter, covering all kinds of stories from new technology to the environment, space, genetics, health and medicine. I enjoyed being a national newspaper journalist but it didn’t leave much time for anything else – like thriller writing. This was a mediocre thriller for me. I was entertained and would be interested to see what T.M Logan has up his sleeve next. I think this is going to be a hot contender for many to talk about! :) Joe finds himself in the sights of a ruthless killer determined to destroy everything he treasures. He will do whatever it takes to protect his family, but as the net tightens around him, his life begins to fall apart. Soon, Joe is in a life or death struggle with a cunning opponent who is always one step ahead. If you’ve yet to read T.M. Logan’s The Catch book then you might well be a little surprised by the changes that have reportedly been made to the Collier family and their home in the gripping Channel 5 show. In the Channel 5 drama which starts on January 25, as per RadioTimes.com, the setting is now the coast of the South West of England where Ed is a fisherman.
