Neurosci. 8, 378–386Merkel cells are tactile cells of neuroectodermal origin located in the basal layer of the epidermis. Although the present study offers new and interesting insights into the neural mechanisms underpinning the affective processing of touch, it also raises a number of questions. Importantly, these questions converge onto key issues in the literature that are currently attracting debate. Morrison I., Löken L. S., Minde J., Wessberg J., Perini I., Nennesmo I., et al. (2011b). U S A 109, E1657–E1666 The EEG was recorded using 64 Ag/AgCl electrodes, which were located according to the extended 10–20 system of the American Clinical Neurophysiology Society ( Acharya etal., 2016). CPz was used as the online reference. Electrode impedance was below 20kΩ. The data were recorded at 500Hz with an ANT EEGo system. Only an anti-aliasing filter was applied during data acquisition (i.e. sinc filter with a half-power cut-off at half the sampling rate). The above treatments are all commonly used to remove and reduce nipple hair and usually have minimal side effects.
