About this deal

Bathing. Baths are a common go-to, especially when live fleas are seen. However, while waterproof, Frontline products need 24 hours to spread throughout the oils on the skin. Bathing shortly before or after application removes oils from the skin as well as possibly the product itself. Roundworms are mostly found in kittens. They can be infected from the mother’s milk. It should be assumed that all kittens are infected and worming should be started at a young age.

Roundworms (also called ascarids) are cylindrical – like spaghetti – and can be up to 15 cm long inside dogs. I would only consider reapplying if there’s a possibility the product may have been applied incorrectly or if your kitty had a bath shortly before or after application, etc. In the Frontline article, in the FAQ section, the first question “How Effective is Frontline for Cats” lists several reasons why folks may still see fleas after applying a topical product.Suitable for all cats (including kittens and nursing cats) above 6 weeks of age and weighing more than 1kg. If you have any questions about application or safety for Frontline products or any topical product, make sure to get in touch with your veterinarian. Conclusion

All three ingredients currently found in Frontline products (fipronil, (S)-methoprene, pyriproxyfen) generally appear to have a low potential for toxicity both topically and even if accidentally ingested.Unfortunately, even indoor cats can become infected with worms. Fleas and their eggs carry tapeworm – so you also need a quality cat flea treatment to completely keep them away. Hookworms have hook-like mouthpieces with which they attach to the dog’s intestinal wall. Hookworms are around 3 mm long.

However, if you want to prevent worms from occurring, ensure you buy a medication which can do this. The best frequency is around every three months, but this may need to be more regular for any cats who pretty much live outdoors.

Your cat should be wormed around every three months if they do not spend more than an average amount of time outdoors, and do not hunt. This should be increased to every month for outdoor cats that hunt, using a wormer which is safe to use monthly. This wormer is suitable for cats and kittens from 6 weeks of age and weighing at least 1kg. It is also licensed for use in nursing cats. Dosage instructions An entomology (“bug science”) professor from the University of California heavily investigated this question and concluded that while resistance has been seen to some flea treatment or prevention products, true chemical resistance in fleas with fipronil, imidacloprid, and some other newer products on the market has not yet been demonstrated.
