About this deal

From the first page I had shivers down my spine and was on the edge of my seat, full of anticipation at the promise of such a chilling tale. Writing a one-dimensional villain is easy, but it takes true talent such as that possessed by Marrs to craft such a mesmerising yet chilling portrayal of a disturbed individual who is both repulsive yet sympathetic. I’m also certain that given the right amount of time I would have polished Keep It in the Family off in just one hit. With their dream house nearly ready for them, Finn and Mia are surprised by an ominous message that is left for them to discover.

These novels have proved great favourites with reading groups, causing readers to squirm with mingled horror and delight as she peels away the layers in all too familiar family relationships, exposing the tangled threads and conflicts beneath. It's about a girl who has to catch the bus to school every day back in the days when passengers in the single decker buses were allowed to smoke, and she hates the smell of cigarettes. Rather, John Marrs illustrates to perfection the warping of values, how we justify our actions and the deep potential for evil that exists in the most unsullied of characters. In 2021, his speculative novel The One was adapted into a 10-episode drama series for Netflix by Misfits creator Howard Overman, and his seventh novel What Lies Between Us has been optioned by Renee Zellweger’s production company at MGM TV.The bestselling author of What Lies Between Us presents his most shocking and delirious thriller yet with Keep It in the Family. Mia and Finn are busy turning a derelict house into their dream home when Mia unexpectedly falls pregnant. Seven of these she describes as black - or sour - comedies, and the first, THE KILLJOY, simply as "dead black". In the midst of this, Mia falls unexpectedly pregnant, adding a sense of urgency to the renovations. But in doing so, she is alienating her husband, and risking the fragile relationship between her and in-laws.

Plagued by nightmares and struggling with motherhood, Mia becomes increasingly obsessed with the terrible crimes that happened in what was to be their new home. His books include No1 bestseller and Netflix series The One, The Passengers, award winning What Lies Between Us and The Good Samaritan. Contains three short stories, “William Darling” (1-18), “You Don’t Look Very Poorly” (19-36), and “Fight the Good Fight” (37-57). I really needed that epilogue, it did give the story some final grounding, complete with a shocking final twist! When a book opens with a quote from a notorious, sadistic serial killer you know it’s going to be a wild ride. I thought this was an excellent technique because it gave me a chance to catch my breath and heightened the tension of the other narrative elements.
