About this deal

The wine's contact with the wood of the cask works hand-in-hand with time to create one of life's greatest wines.

In 2005, the IVDP prohibited the use of the term ""Vintage Character"" replacing it with the term ""Reserve. All of Graham’s Tawny Ports have their own individual characteristics, the complex flavours and aromas that pervade each of these unique wines have been developed through selecting only our top quality wines from Graham’s four spectacular Quinta’s in the Douro Valley to age in seasoned oak casks in our 1890 Lodge in Vila Nova de Gaia.It is essential to strike the correct balance between the delicacy and elegance which results from prolonged cask ageing while retaining the fruit quality which lends this old Tawny its structure and longevity. Since then Malvedos has been recognized as one of the Douro ValleyÂ's finest Â'river Quintas,Â' and the quality of the wines from the vineyard continues to be fundamental to GrahamÂ's reputation as a leading producer of quite exceptional Vintage Port. Graham’s 30 Year Old Tawny Port is an amber-coloured fortified port wine with the characteristic aromas of long aging, like nuts and ripe fruits. It is your responsibility to keep the wines safe and in their original condition until collection is made. Though it accounts for around one percent of production, vintage port is the flagship wine of all Portugal.

The 30 Year Old wines are very serious indeed, showing immense structure and a range of dried fruit and nut flavours. Port became very popular in England after the Methuen Treaty of 1703, when merchants were permitted to import it at a low duty, while war with France deprived English wine drinkers of French wine. Only decades of tasting and careful nurturing will allow a wine of this delicacy and quality to emerge. These are among the most demanding and challenging styles of Port to produce requiring great skill and years of experience from the winemaker and blender. The quality of Graham’s Port relies on the finest grapes, primarily sourced from five iconic quintas in the Douro Valley: Quinta dos Malvedos, Quinta do Tua, Quinta das Lages and two others, Quinta da Vila Velha and Quinta do Vale de Malhadas, which are privately owned by members of the Symington family.
