But I bought copies of this book for my husband and my brother--the car enthusiasts in my family--and I decided to glance through my husband's copy. Hranek's] gallery-worthy photos are visual testimony to car design as an art form and are paired with their owner's memories and the joys of being a gearhead. This illustrated tale of the love affair between owners and automobiles is certain to take readers on an armchair roadtrip they'll happily repeat many times. But while the story of a guy’s wrist candy may be compelling, Hranek knew that tales about what’s parked in the driveway or garage had the potential to be truly epic.Or Jay Leno on his 1955 Buick Roadmaster, big enough for him to sleep in while trying to make it as a comic. I don't think it's 5-stars because in essence it's a coffee table book, but it's a very very good one at that. Instead, each author focused on describing his personal relationship with cars (usually starting at a young age), how he acquired the featured car, and its unique qualities and characteristics.

Matt Hranek took the stunning photographs, but the story of each featured car was written by its actual owner. I believe that little boys love interacting with moving objects because their brains are good at spatial navigation. At the end of a year-and-a-half of schlepping it all over the world, I literally wanted to pour gasoline on it and burn it.
