About this deal

In September 2018, Lindeblad was diagnosed with ALS, which in various ways affected his continued lecturing activities. I loved that it wasn’t just focused on the religious aspects but there was also time put aside to develop your own skills and to get involved in the local community too. They accept themselves and each other, they learn humility, and to trust that if they make room for miracles, they come.

Bjorn’s friends, his life, his family, the monks and nuns he shared monasteries with were not holier than thou. The book cover has no visible wear, and the dust jacket (if applicable) is included for hard covers. This book pulled me in with its Buddhist wisdom appeal but I have been deeply moved and troubled by it. Plain and simple, it's about how to relate to your own thoughts and emotions in a way that makes your life more enjoyable, more free, brighter, clearer and wiser.

Summary: A manual for living with uncertainty – told in simple everyday language through the perspective of a man who chose to live an extraordinary life, but recognises that most of us will stay closer to home and can nevertheless benefit massively from what he learned along the way. I love Charles Barkley but this book is just a series of what feels like entries in his personal journal. What I value most from my seventeen years of full-time spiritual training is that I no longer believe my every thought. It's not only just laced with the most incredible wisdom, but it's also gentle and beautiful and eloquent. How to be present and have courage to welcome uncertainty in my live is what this book has bought me in midst of despair. The monastery served as a spiritual inn with many guests from Thailand and abroad, and Lindeblad appreciated the environment and the community. He knows (and at core so do I) that it matters very much how the rest of the world responds to this book, because it tells the truth as it is, in the early 21st century. I think there is freedom that can arise from being fully aware and present to what life can gift and take away from us.
