About this deal

When one of the contestants goes missing before the revelation process, turning it into a murder mystery, the authorities get involved in the investigation. With the contestants set up in a Welsh woodland camp (expect a few Welsh names and sentances) Miles then announces a new game plan. The first book in the series was ok in as much as I wanted to read to the end but only because I was mildly intrigued to see what would happen. With a fresh case and a brilliant cast of reality TV wannabes entering the Welsh mountains, the stage is set for another gripping mystery. It's all about the money, from the presenter locked into a contract she wants out of to the contestants who all have a secret they wish to remain hidden, to the producer Miles who is playing an evil game by his own rules.

A Game of Lies has everything; a clever plot , a glorious setting , engaging characters and buckets of tension .

DC George Kent, an introverted, closed-book, work-oriented woman, has recently transferred to their team as DS Leo starts dating a very pushy lady and tries to spend more time with his son. Het voorgaande deel vond ik ook oké, maar die viel mij ook een klein beetje tegen en helaas is dat met dit tweede deel precies zo. He of course turns up for the new investigation, but they can’t seem to find their footing together. I enjoyed the format of this one, it has a reality television series as the main point of the plot and throughout the book we get different points of view from the contestants. I was so looking forward to this book as I loved the first one in the series, but for some reason, this just felt different.

I recommend this installment to fans of well-plotted mysteries and to those who love dog characters! Tightly plotted and meticulously paced, packed with suspects, twists and turns , A Game of Lies is Clare Mackintosh at her best . A Game of Lies is an aptly titled police procedural about seven reality TV contestants who become suspects in a murder. Tbh, when I was halfway through, I was actually surprised to see that I was only at the fifty mark as I felt that I had been reading for a long time and by now I must have covered at least 70 percent of the story. Many thanks to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Landmark for providing me with an advance copy of this book to review.

It seems like their lives are moving forward in separate ways until they meet in another case related to one of the highest-rated reality shows, "Exposure. Leo joins the team as the lead investigator, making things extra challenging for both Ffion and him. I liked the plot of this book, I’ve not see a plot like it which immediately makes it stand out from the crowd.

I did eventually really get focused on it and enjoyed it but, and I don’t know whether it’s because I enjoyed the first one so much, but this one just didn’t fully hit the mark for me.I have read the first book in this series and that was good but not in the same calibre as her first books. Ffion is struggling with her emotions and a new rescue dog named Dave, who is THE BEST; he brings some much-needed humor into the plot. It’s a lengthy procedural with a lot of characters, a non-linear timeline, and it won’t be for everyone but once I got into the story a bit I was well and truly addicted and it’s still a favorite. De vermissing was in mijn ogen eerder een bijzaak en mijn interesse lag dus meer bij het moordmysterie. Everyone has secrets, but these are relationship-killing, job-losing, possible-jailtime kinds of secrets.
