These barrels are UN approved for solids and come with a rubber gasket seal and a removable steel lid. Many drums nominally measure just under 880 millimetres (35 in) tall with a diameter just under 610 millimetres (24 in), and have a common nominal volume of 208 litres (55 US gal) whereas the barrel volume of crude oil is 42 US gallons (159 L). We manufacture them to British Standards and meet the performance requirements of UN Groups I, II or III. Drum liners are often available in low-density polyethylene (LDPE) and polypropylene (PP), but foil liners are also available.Tight head steel drums, also known as closed top steel drums, have a permanent covering that cannot be removed. With a drum liner there’s a reduced chance of cross contamination, allowing you to safely carry different products throughout the course of your steel drum’s life. If you have any scratches you need to put in a little work and remove these by hand before you tumble. If you use it with stainless steel shot and water it is not an abrasive - so it will not remove scratches.
