It has an octane rating of 50 to 55 and none of the additives found in gasoline, so causes less dirt build up and so less stove maintenance. Don't be tempted to use unleaded petrol in your Nightstar lantern - Petrol gives off an unpleasant smell, and leaves a greasy residue.

Coleman fuel, and other white gases, contain additives for inhibiting rust, ease of lighting, and fast burning.
