The whole "am I becoming a myth myself" aspect of the main character's part of the story was awesome and there was level of straight up cool-ness in everything going on that I rarely find in my reading these days. I have not been this engaged in a book in a long time and it is great to know it is just the beginning of a multi-book series.
Michael Moorcock finds Mythago Wood notable for focusing on the subject of unity, including both the unity of the landscape and its inhabitants as well as the unity of dreams and the environment. I love working with the mix and match of different legends, and The Hollowing, of all my work, is probably the richest and most complex novel in this way. For the first time I was able to give full rein to the ‘Green Men’ I created, the ‘daurog’; and I was also able to give my characters a better diet!
