About this deal

I wanted to know what was up with the church, the tree, all of it but I didn't need the answer right away. It is left open how the Church and we might deal with that in the future - that would have been a different science fiction book! Whilst the author is lauded as "UK's Stephen King," ardent readers of Steve may find this book as a little too draggy for their taste. The girl’s village is shocked as she starts performing miracles and the site of the visitation becomes a shrine. Tiene una comienzo genial que poco a poco va decayendo metiéndole paja de relaciones entre personajes que nada interesa para tener un final de fuegos artificiales que en mi casa me fastidia.

With the hype surrounding Alice Pagett quickly getting out of control, Fenn begins to investigate the matter in the hope of uncovering the real truth behind the miracles. Amongst the crowds that have gathered are those with critical illnesses, hoping for another miracle to take place and cure their terminal illness. The female characters are your typical 'women who appear in horror novels written by men' meaning they are objectified, naive 'damsels in distress' who have absolutely no agency. We are moving here from witchcraft as the magic of supernatural powers to a more "cultist" kind of magic, where powers are, in fact, natural and merely more evolved. And as the storyline becomes more hectic, with the miracles sparking massive media coverage, so this underlying tension just keeps on mounting to gigantic proportions. I’m also a sucker for any book that has elements of religious horror, and this definitely ticked the boxes, being almost reminiscent of The Exorcist. so we get the usual graphic descriptions of his sexual prowess in prose worthy of any copy of Razzel. It felt so cheap considering everything I saw the characters go through but the players are bigger than life.

Forget the horror for the moment and read it for a fine evocation of rural Sussex as it was at that time and as a sympathetic but realistic portrayal of the Catholic Church and its servants. He has an analytical approach to human nature and his characters have flaws that make them more real.I loved the narration and the "boring" parts weren't boring for me they added to the story in an important and impactful way. Miraculous healings starts to happen around the little girl and the Church and everybody focuns their attention in the little town. On 3 December 2018, Deadline reported that Screen Gems and Sam Raimi will produce the adaptation of the novel with Evan Spiliotopoulos writing the script and making his directorial debut.
