About this deal

No child should ever feel like they have to hide their identity from anyone and the knowledge that some children do, is heartbreaking. In many ways, it felt like I was reading the story of my childhood (I just didn’t have as much courage and strength as James did - though I did have Mariah). I didn’t get much sleep over the months that I was writing it and was having a lot of nightmares about being back in secondary school and experiencing homophobic bullying again.

But this is the story of James, who is relentlessly bullied by his classmate Paul, and eventually by others in the class as well. It's not so bad when you're just duking it out against a bunker or partially disabled tank but when confronting anything with an iota of mobility, the GB pilot is in for a beating. Buthe's being bullied by a boy at school, and as the secrets buildup, James begins to lose his spark. Glitter Boy is a beautifully written story about finding who you are and understanding the people around you. This was all written about in a gentle way, for older children, but also gives any child reading this a chance to wait, to work out, in their own time, who they are, without worrying about labels unnecessarily early.

I loved the character James and all the different emotions and feelings he goes through and think there is probably a character like James in every primary school. about LGBT+ history, acceptance (and non) in the today, about being yourself and loving people for exactly who they are. I knew that if I stopped to think about it too much, the pressure and nerves would get to me, so I decided to just really enjoy the writing process.

The G-10 is the original Glitter Boy that not only helped reshape the Post-Apocalyptic world all over Earth, but played a hand in causing the apocaplypse in the first place(The nuclear attack that triggered the Great Cataclysm was the result of a series of events that started from a single battle involving several Glitter Boys wiping out an entire army). A Polari-Prize-winning author presents an unforgettable story about a boy facing up to bullying - and his own truths. As we wrap up our chat, I realize glitter, in itself, is an important vehicle for Lemons's revolution. While I’m a lot older than the target audience, this is exactly the kind of book I wish had been around when I was growing-up. If it's one person with a single weapon, your best bet is to aim all of your shots at either the head or boom gun.It gives its young readers a beautiful message and help them see that they’re not alone in their journey. James can find relief with his beloved Nan, she’s been having worrying falls, and James can’t tell anyone, or she might be sent to a faraway care home. Mariah’s songs tell James to be true to himself, but it’s really hard when he’s still working out who he is, like any eleven year old.

A variation of the Glitter Boy designed for Reconnaissance missions (the armor is painted in camouflage in the field). I have two more lovely picture books coming out this year and then there’s lots of exciting things planned with more LGBTQ+ fairy tales and perhaps even a new middle grade book being planned…Keep your eyes peeled! Highly readable coming-of-age middle grade fiction starring 11-year-old James, creator of most extravagant dance routines, lifetime member of the Mariah Carey fan club and a staunch believer in staying fabulous.Mae James wastad wedi bod wrth ei fodd yn dawnsio gyda’i ffrind gorau Harriet ac yn canu i ganeuon Mariah Carey gyda’i nain. I'm sure when Quebec comes out they'll rectify this oversight, but then again I thought that there would again be a reason to fear Tattooed men when Splynn came out. I think this book needs to be in every primary classroom and I can not wait to share it with children in my school. The most obvious way he embodies this alter ego on a daily basis is wearing swaths of glitter across his cheekbones.

The bullying touches the parts of James that he is exploring but of which he is also most fearful' (Sylvia, former Children's Social Work Director, Letterbox Library reviewer). But James’s father seems uncomfortable about the plan, and a lot of other things – like any mention of Mr Hamilton, and James’s dancing, and how James talks about his new friend Joel. He’s invited to sing in a surprise choir performance for his teacher’s wedding, but his father expresses discomfort because the ceremony involves two men getting married. You’ve recently appeared on the national news talking about LGBTQ+ inclusive education and Glitter Boy. Respected, because Glitter Boy armor was the weapon of the greatest heroes in North America throughout the Two Hundred Years Dark Age. One Glitterboy even hired an assistant to follow him around in combat, collecting the casings as they are ejected. A new design created by Free Quebec, the Glitter Girl is a Reconnaissance and Intelligence-oriented suit.
