I've always wanted to be able to fly and have wonderful adventures just like Rachel and Kirsty have with all the Rainbow Magic fairies. They love the The Rainbow Series and, with instructor support, it's appropriate for all reading levels.
Years ago I had to give my beautiful collection away, now still part of my childhood school where little girls are picking their favourite fairies and playing pretend. Just then, a cold breeze blows away the trail of fairy dust, leaving the girls and Fern lost in the maze with goblin voices approaching. When Rachel and Kirsty meet on the ferry to Rainspell Island one summer holiday, they have no idea that such magical adventures with the fairies await them! Again, I do suggest instructor supervision because modeling how much fun reading we can have reading is contagious! It's based on a little island off the south coast of England that I used to visit when I was a little girl.On Christmas last year, my sister surprised me with a boxset of these books, but cause you cannot collect these darlings as easily anymore. She won the Macmillan Prize for Picture Book Illustration in 2000 with My Best Friend Bob and Little Brown Bushrat which she authored and illustrated. I read to her and point to the word as I read and she enjoys to watch and look at the illustrations that are showing parts of the story as we go along. More fairy dust, smelling like fresh cut grass, sparkles in the air and leads the girls through an orchard, then a hedge maze, to a tree in the center of the maze. this was was set in a magic secret garden in an old abandoned castle plot that still has a tower left!
