About this deal

Her journey unfolds as she stumbles upon a pair of mysterious books that appear to never have been published. A gift subscription to Kindle Unlimited is a thoughtful gift that your favorite readers will love and appreciate. Recently, Ashlyn stumbles upon a remarkable discovery: a pair of exquisitely bound volumes that seem to have never seen the light of day.

Determined to learn the truth behind the doomed lovers' tale, she reads on, following a trail of broken promises and seemingly unforgivable betrayals. The beautiful cover drew me to The Echo of Old Books, plus the intrigue of the content, but it disappointed a little. Belle (for belle of the ball) and Hemi (for Hemingway) And it seemed like a decades old mystery, with two lovers who were betrayed. Together they read the story of his great-aunt Marian (nicknamed Belle in the books) and the love of her life.In deciphering their story, she discovers profound insights about love, forgiveness, and the power of second chances. I'd never seen this particular approach done - yes, there are other books with stories-within-stories, but this was truly the first time I'd ever encountered a duology done this way, and Davis manages to make all *three* books - the duology plus this actual book we're actually reading "in real life" - truly compelling due to the nature of how she has crafted this. Determined to learn the truth behind the doomed lovers’ tale, she reads on, following a trail of broken promises and seemingly unforgivable betrayals. This is an excellent book, and you’ll especially like it if you’re a historical fiction fan and enjoy the time period leading up to WWII. With no trace of how the books came to be, it is amazing how this author pieced the story together so it flowed flawlessly and beautifully.

I only recently found author Barbara Davis a few years ago when I read her last novel, The Keeper Of Happy Endings. HNS Awards have helped discover and launch the author careers of Michel Faber, Ruth Downie, Hilary Green, Martin Sutton, Kelleigh Greenberg-Jephcott, Nikki Marmery, Margaret Skea, Warwick Cairns, Katherine Mezzacappa and Elizabeth Macneal.Main character Ashlyn Greer deals in rare books, and is blessed with the uncanny ability to feel the emotions and echoes of her books’ previous owners. As Ashlyn unravels the lives of Hemi and Belle, she inches closer to bringing closure not only to their tale but also to the unfinished chapters of her own life.
