About this deal

His novel THE CATCH, about a father who becomes convinced his daughter is about to marry a man with terrible secrets, was also adapted for TV starring BAFTA-winner Jason Watkins - all episodes now available on My5. So with this in mind and knowing how even the best book-to-show and best book-to-movie adaptations inevitably make some tweaks, The Catch could differ from the book’s plotline when it comes to the ending too. When Abbey brings home her fiancé Ryan to introduce him to the family, everyone is completely enamoured with him.

M. Logan’s The Catch book then you might well be a little surprised by the changes that have reportedly been made to the Collier family and their home in the gripping Channel 5 show. Two weeks after it came out as an e-book, I discovered that my day job – by this point I was a deputy director in charge of the university’s communications team – was being made redundant as part of a restructure. The book will be adapted for the screen by Michael Crompton (The Holiday, Silent Witness, Safe House, Kidnap and Ransom) with Rachel Gesua, Suzi McIntosh and Trevor Eve executive producing for Projector Pictures and Herbert L. Ryan is perfect in all ways, he has a successful job, charm, good looks, ex military and so the list goes on. Set against the hauntingly beautiful coastline of the south-west of England, this suspense-driven drama revolves around the themes of toxic masculinity and grief. When his beloved 24-year-old daughter arrives with her boyfriend of seven months, doting dad Ed Collier is ready to try to like him. On their way back to the ship after a night out drinking, they spotted him and decided to "wind him up". Plus, there’s the fact that it is based on TM Logan’s bestseller of the same name, which some people raved about but I haven’t read. Based on the novel by TM Logan, the story follows fisherman Ed Collier (Watkins), who is highly protective over his family, which includes wife Claire (Philomena's Cathy Belton) and daughter Abbie ( Stay Close star Poppy Gilbert). The synopsis continues: "But when rich, handsome younger man Ryan Wilson enters the life of his daughter Abbie Collier and threatens to take her away from him, Ed finds his life spiralling out of control.

He lured Abbie to his favourite killing spot and turned into Ed, as in doing dumb things such as bringing a souvenir (Ed's knife) and turning away from her so she could punch him. The Catch is coming to Channel 5 next week, and we’ve got a first look at the new drama that you absolutely must see! Before he could kill Abbie, Claire arrived to save her after having a bad feeling about her daughter and Ryan. The only problem is that Ed is an over-protective father with a history of causing trouble, and he has secrets of his own. Ryan does seem too good to be true and helps add abit of ambiguity, whilst Abbie's mum Claire thinks her husband's reactions are ridiculous.I find there are a lot of similarities between Ryan and Ed, too – they both have flaws, but great strengths.

Other recognisable stars include Cathy Belton as Ed’s wife Claire, Academy Award-winner Brenda Fricker as Ed’s mother-in-law Phyllis Doyle, Ian Pirie as Ed’s best friend Bob Chapman and Jade Jordan plays Abbie’s best friends Katz. I tend to stick to chick lit, especially over the past year when I needed something light hearted to distract myself. Channel 5 shared: “Set against the hauntingly beautiful coastline of the southwest of England, this suspense-driven drama revolves around the themes of toxic masculinity and grief. Ed’s on a journey with Claire because he has a secret which he has never shared with her, and he fears being honest will destroy her.

The setting was a stroke of genius, it most probably helped that I know the Peak District (Castleton holds happy memories) so I felt that I was walking alongside them at times. The Catch is a new thriller coming to Channel 5, but what is it about, how many episodes are there and who’s in the cast? Aneurin is also a singer and had the lead role in the West End production of hit musical Spring Awakening and starred in the musical film Hunky Dory. The author's previous novel The Holiday was also adapted into a drama for Channel 5, which aired in the summer of 2022. Speaking about the four-part thriller, the actor said: “I’ve always loved thrillers on screen and The Catch has all the ingredients to keep audiences hooked.

For a moment, it looked like Ryan, who was bleeding heavily, would die, but he survived and pleaded guilty. I enjoyed being a national newspaper journalist but it didn’t leave much time for anything else – like thriller writing.

Bestselling author TM Logan was a national newspaper journalist before turning to novel-writing full time. Here we break down the downright disturbing The Catch book ending and reveal why changes made to the Channel 5 drama suggests its finale might take a different path.
