Slipknot is a metal band from Des Moines, Iowa, formed by vocalist Anders Colsefni, percussionist Shawn Crahan and bassist Paul Gray (3) in September 1995. Since the records with their large covers offer plenty of space for optical highlights, LPs go with Slipknot like the masks of the band members. Early within the sessions, the members tapped into a raw aggression akin to their breakout self-titled debut and 2001’s landmark Iowa, but filtered through fifteen years of wisdom and refinement. While the now iconic leads singles, 'My Plague' and 'Left Behind' remain embedded in the metal spectrum, deeper cuts such as the caustic 'People = Shit', nihilism rally of 'The Heretic Anthem' or the decrepit defeatism of 'Skin Ticket' offer the bleakest look into the band's psyche at their most temperamental of conditions. Their best known lineup was completed with the addition of guitarist James Root in January 1999; it would last until the death of Gray on May 24, 2010, and Jordison's firing on December 12, 2013.On this album, I learned you may have your whole life to create your first album, but you have the rest of your life to do it again. Since their inception, the band went through various lineup changes and eventually ended up with nine members shortly before their signing to Roadrunner Records in July 1998, to which they remained signed until April 1, 2023. Slipknot stand out as one of history’s most impactful and culturally significant hard rock entities. When you get into this fucking business, they teach you really quickly that you have your whole life to create your first record.
