It’s fine to have a favorite few authors, but he doesn’t just quote them on different topics, he uses the same quote from the same author multiple times. His superb new book on the Trinity is vintage Rohr: clearheaded, provocative, inspiring, challenging, and, most of all, suffused with the presence of the Holy Spirit. Rohr is a Franciscan priest with a particularly capacious sense of what it means to be Christian (which I'm not, but this feels like a book about Christianity that is really for everyone). There is more, however to this story, and oftentimes the unconscious pushes us into terra incognito. The people who know God well—mystics, hermits, prayerful people, those who risk everything to find God—always meet a lover, not a dictator. As someone who’s been sober for a long time and hopes to be so tomorrow, Breathing Under Water is a really important book for me. And you hear people, I won’t mention… A former president that we had here, whose whole talks are just grievances. So if we properly understand how to mature, we live inside the structures of of life in our younger years and then we learn when to leave the structures of live in our older years. To live on the edge of the inside is different than being an insider, a "company man" or a dues paying member. The Enneagram: A Christian Perspective (with Andreas Ebert) (1995, reissued by Crossroad Publishing Co, U. In fact, one of the people who worked for the city said, “This neighborhood…” and it’s the poorer part of town as you can tell, but, “has the lowest crime rate of the whole city of Albuquerque,” and he attributed it to us. I'm not sure how much this book will be appreciated by those who have not read some of Rohr's earlier work. Rohr has helped me realize that much of the impatience and frustration I have been feeling with certain trends in my profession (I am a teacher at a Catholic high school) may derive from the fact that my own path has moved beyond the institutional structures that inform and often dictate what I can accomplish.
