About this deal

I had to carve out a bit of plastic before I finally got them through, but you can see in the photos it’s pretty tight and it created some white stress marks, but overall doesn’t seem any worse for wear and and multiple assemblies and disassemblies the shoulder pads are still fixed firm, all good signs for the longevity of this model. He walks around in an absolutely ridiculous fit of aviator shades and a sleeveless vest, capped off by piloting a solid gold mobile suit. This is the Sazabi you've been waiting for: the RG realization of the mobile suit piloted by the Red Comet, Char Aznable himself, in "Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack! It’s a nice design, and still similar enough that often the only way to tell the difference between the MG and the RG in photographs is what gun it’s holding: if you see the rifle, that’s the MG, but if you see the shotgun and have nothing else to provide a sense of scale, it could go either way. This puzzle and my complete inability to read Japanese lead to multiple failed attempts at assembling the three funnels I didn’t accidentally get right the first go.

In addition to several hand parts, this kit includes all of the characteristic armament you'd expect. The last RG release to feature the original red Bandai Logo before it was replaced with a blue-colored Bandai Spirits logo. This absolute unit of a model kit is every Gundam builders dream, words cannot describe how much fun I had in assembling this kit.

I’d like to have a left-handed trigger finger, but that is just not something you get, ever, so it is what it is. We’ve talked about Amuro Ray, and we’ve talked about Kamille Bidan, and now we have to talk about the connective tissue that binds them together. It’s just a great kit, and was probably the best Real Grade until the Nu Gundam came out and immediately overthrew it. Following the trend from 0079 to 0105 or so, it’s just a little bit larger than the previous model, and a little more heavily-armed. The detail of the mega particle cannon in the abdomen is improved by embedding a twin pipe of hi Q parts in the center.

The “rubbery” ABS PP parts that comprise the arms and legs of other RG kits are now limited to only a few pieces for the wrist, shoulder frames and the waist/skirt frame. One set is four cut outs, one on each quadrant around the bottom of the upper cylinder which fit over the mounts of the funnel plates. To celebrate the 1st anniversary of Gundam SIDE-F facility, Bandai Spirits announces a limited and exclusive Real Grade version of the MSN-04 Sazabi SIDE-F version that appeared in the special production video of the life-size RX-93ff nu Gundam!Another three hours of decal application and, two more ripped decals, I’ve only managed to apply about 30 or so decals. The shield can attach to the back of either forearm, and holds on shockingly well for how heavy it is. Sazabi looks like it will keep its distinctive position as one of the marvel’s of Bandai engineering prowess.

The sheer number of moving parts Bandai managed to incorporate into their new RG release is a wonder to behold. It gets most of its screen time in Char’s Counterattack , where it absolutely clowns the EFSF fleet and puts up a decent fight against the RX-93 Nu Gundam. I'll start off by saying that the RG Sazabi doesn't feel like a Real Grade, it feels more like a 1/144 scale Master Grade. The articulation, the details the accessories, the build and the sheer size that dwarfs most other 1/144 kits.

There are a lot more trim panels that tuck under other panels than any other kit I’ve done, the tolerances are so slim in some cases that even when everything is fit as tight and flush as you can get it, there’s still a bit of a gap. Finally… After five sessions of only decal work spread across four days I’m completely finished with water slides now. First earning fame as apparently the only ace pilot who managed not to get killed by Amuro during the One Year War, he followed that up with an encore performance of head-shotting the final remaining Zabi scion with a bazooka. The cylinder shaft on the back of the forearm is painted gold on the cylinder side and silver on the shaft. However, as I found myself assembling the kit, I was just simply impressed with the details depicted in the inner frame as well as the articulation that this RG has to offer.
