While Portobello Road Gin does some nice things with its nutmeg, cassia, coriander and licorice botanicals— I can’t help but feel that it tastes a bit dated. It was here that, after discovering the lay of the distilling land and nine months of experimentation, Portobello Road Gin was born.

On the front of the palate, Portobello Road Gin has a generous slug of juniper, the mid-palate has a sustained, fresh citrus character from our use of lemon, bitter orange and coriander, which then develops into a sweet peppery finish, achieved by the use of liquorice and nutmeg. Slowly but surely something they could be proud of emerged, created from a blend of nine completely natural botanicals from around the world including juniper berries and orris from Tuscany, Spanish lemon peels, bitter orange peels from Haiti or Morocco, nutmeg from Indonesia and cassia bark from South East Asia. Nestled above a 19th century drinking den on the world famous Portobello Road, London's premiere gin-making experience, The Ginstitute opened.
