About this deal

Sharing a selfie, taken with Zonfrillo and the rest of the MasterChef Australia team, British celebrity chef Jamie Oliver paid tribute on Instagram, writing: "I'm in total shock to wake up to the sudden death of chef Jock Zonfrillo". In November 2013, he opened Orana and Street ADL in Adelaide [13] replacing Street ADL with Bistro Blackwood in September 2017.

The heavily-tattooed, thrice-married, 45-year-old Zonfrillo recounts his story of drug use and rise through the ranks of some of the world's best kitchens before finding fame in Australia. By 17, he was working under Michelin-starred chef Marco Pierre White at his eponymous restaurant at the Hyde Park Hotel, in London. I’m an ambassador for Lavazza, and I’ve done all the barista training, and I do that because I’m just really f…ing interested in it, you know? It also had a deep food culture: his mother would cook mince and potatoes, but when he went to his nonno’s house, there were things like lasagne and cacio e pepe. Best known as the charismatic, tattooed MasterChef judge with the smooth Scottish brogue – and for his heavy use of Indigenous ingredients in fine dining – Jock Zonfrillo has taken the world of Australian food by storm. And it was them that asked me to try and spread that message in a way that not just Australians, but the world could appreciate indigenous culture as being something more than just hunter-gatherers .

The trip allowed Zonfrillo to get free of heroin: he took his last shot in the toilets of Heathrow Airport – giving the book its title. But Krammer’s medical report at the time noted that he had suffered “extensive burns” and “excruciating pain”, and was unable to work for three-and-a-half months. I'm a college-educated man who was once a husband of 26 years with two children, three businesses, and a large home with an actual white picket fence.

Jock Zonfrillo became a household name in 2019 after joining the judging panel of MasterChef Australia. Zonfrillo, who has often spoken about his nine-year heroin addiction which ended two decades ago, says Last Shot is his story to tell and is not backing down. Before long, however, the police arrived: they told him he needed a permit to be there, and ejected him. The emotional cry of murdered Yousef Makki's sister: I kept my promise mum… It took four years but now. Yet according to a number of people I speak to, many of the stories that Zonfrillo tells about himself in the book and elsewhere differ markedly from their own recollections of events.

In May 2007, Zonfrillo was declared bankrupt after a creditor's petition from Krammer was successful in the Federal Magistrates Court. Jock’s ability to not sugarcoat the truth and his brutal honesty about his struggle with his inner demons will resonate with so many people.Oliver went on: "We had the best time working together for this year's MasterChef, I can't tell how good it was to work with him! Now, she is determined to put the past behind them and make Diana as happy as she can in the time they have left. MasterChef Australia judge Jock Zonfrillo says he stands by every word of his new memoir Last Shot after doubts were raised about some of the claims he made in the book.

There is also a large red deli-meat slicer, and a cornucopian pantry that a person could walk into wearing a head torch and never be seen again. You mention your memory not being so good because of your lifestyle which made me question some of the details of your stories but despite that I believe that you made things happen for yourself. Executive vice president of Network 10's parent company Paramount ANZ, Beverley McGarvey, said in a statement: "This is a terribly sad day.The Arkle provided staff accommodation, but his wages didn’t cover his heroin habit, so he started selling cocaine, pot and pills. Zonfrillo claims to have visited hundreds of Indigenous communities since then, listening to locals and gathering knowledge in an effort to create a new, authentic Australian cuisine. I’ve now got hundreds of different types,” Zonfrillo tells me when we meet in Melbourne on the set of MasterChef Australia, where he is a judge. It’s previously been reported that Zonfrillo walked away from Forty One, in 2002, after becoming frustrated that Sawyere wouldn’t allow him to slip native ingredients into the dishes.
