About this deal

Jessica Miller is the main character in the story and she can’t wait to show her old crew, the East House Seven, how far she’s come since their college days. One of her earliest childhood memories is getting to read to her kindergarten class (“See The Fly Fly” by Catherine Chase). However, readers who are looking for thrills and tension right off the bat may find that it takes a bit of patience for that element of this story to fully kick in. However, readers won’t fully understand exactly what the story’s central mystery is, or what exactly is at stake for the book’s characters, until a shift in the story occurs that sets our characters on a new—and much more dangerous—path.

I read, breath held, as each layer of obfuscation was peeled off, revealing the struggles and machinations of each member of the group as they surged toward their deepest desires: to get away from loss; to prove integrity; to grab at power, status, and respect. A college reunion turns dark and deadly in this chilling and propulsive suspense novel about six friends, one unsolved murder, and the dark secrets they’ve been hiding from each other–and themselves–for a decade.

The promising premise centered on 10th anniversary reunion of university students which also a reason to drag them to the murder scene to solve the cold case of Heather’s brutal killing by stabbing 17 times with a scissor in her dorm room ( I still have conflicts about book’s name as you see the murder weapon is not knife but scissors ! There was even a love story (not taking too much place, but just enough to add some romantic tension).

Taut and atmospheric, with scenes from Jessica's childhood and college years interposed with the dramatic events of the present day, In My Dreams I Hold a Knife will keep readers guessing until the very last moment. The plot is divided between the college years of six friends and then ten years later around the time of their college reunion.Over the course of a single shocking night, Ashley Winstead peels back lie after lie, exposing the poisoned roots of ambition, friendship, and belonging itself. When I wasn't reading this book, I was thinking about it, and felt equally invested in the character back stories and daily interactions as I was in Heather's death.

Over my years as a crime reader, I’ve found myself drawn over and over again to characters who are often described as “unlikeable”—characters who embody less-than-desirable traits that we’d all probably rather not admit we can sometimes relate to. So in that way, reading a book is like watching an experiment unfold: What could happen if I leaned into certain possibilities within myself? But it’s that hunger to see characters react to dark, thrilling, high-stakes, emotionally packed events that really draws me. He has been obsessed with investigating his sister's murder and also the secrets of the past group of friends and their contacts. As the book progresses, the author’s expert ability to dole out subtle clues and craft convincing red herrings will keep readers fully invested; this is one of those books where everyone has a dark side and seems like they might just be capable of murder.A college reunion turns dark and deadly in this chilling and propulsive suspense novel about six friends, one unsolved murder, and the dark secrets they’ve been hiding from each other—and themselves—for a decade. At a prestigious college- a group of very close friends, ‘dubbed the East House Seven’ lose one of their own when a young woman named Heather is murdered in cold blood. Now she is an Upper East Side girl named partner at one of the most sought after positions at a consulting company in NYC. IN MY DREAMS I HOLD A KNIFE lures readers into its world alongside its characters slowly but surely, before snapping closed the trap that has been carefully laid around them.
