I’m not going to tell you if it was the right move or not in relation to what happens in the book but my heart wanted what my heart wanted but I felt the conflict within Juliette SO INTENSELY. Warner tells Juliette he loves her but she doesn’t say it back because she isn’t sure of her feelings. I definitely went into Ignite Me with some pretty strong predictions for what was going to happen but neither of them happened. Parents need to know that Shatter Me is the first book in a dystopian romance series by Iranian American author Tahereh Mafi. For new readers to the series a quick glance at all the books published might leave you scratching your head.There were a few things I didn’t find to be “perfect” but I was so immersed in the story/the writing that I didn’t care. Back at base Juliette wakes in the night to find Warner trying to put cream on his back scars to lessen them. The original trilogy went on to be translated into more than 30 languages and sell more than a million copies. Then she tells him she doesn’t love Adam and isn’t attracted to him anymore but is attracted to Warner.
It’s much easier for me to deal with than when an entire book is written in a different dialect, like Goddess in the Machine. For those unaware, Mafi wrote the first three books and then there was a very large gap before she wrote Books 4-6. In full disclosure, it’s been a really long time since I read the the first batch of Shatter Me books. But there’s something about the darkness, the stillness of this hour, I think, that creates a language of its own. With Omega Point destroyed, Juliette doesn't know if the rebels, her friends, or even Adam are alive.
If you can’t remember what happened in Ignite Me and you need a refresher, then you’re in the right place. But when I glance down at my body I realize I’m wearing clean clothes, no blood or holes or anything anywhere and I wonder who washed me, wonder who changed me, and worry that might’ve been Warner, too. Doubt had married my fear and moved into my mind, where it built castles and ruled kingdoms and reigned over me, bowing my will to its whispers until I was little more than an acquiescing peon, too terrified to disobey, too terrified to disagree.
When they got there they met up with Castle, Ian, Lily, and Alia who had rescued Winston and Brendan.
