Ultimately I only finished this book to see if it could be as bad as the first 100 pages all the way through. One of their favourite residents, Hugh Knightley-Webb, antiques dealer and supervisor of the Art Club is found murdered.

He surmises to Laing that the failure of the high-rise may actually be a kind of success, a "crucible for change" that could lead residents to escape to a new life. While Laing leads a physiology class in examining a severed head, a student named Munrow faints and is given a precautionary brain scan. Plus, I found it a bit too much that they cleaned up, but left their stuff like that and didn’t care about it.

Fourth and final, the mystery literally uncovered itself before Chapter 8 when something specific Nik mentions crops up again a mere few pages later.

Balancing jokey dialogue and insights into the reality of city life, Sharna Jackson has written a very likeable, fast-paced book.

Allerdings könnte ich mir gut vorstellen, dass die Erzählweise nicht jedermanns Sache sein wird, da sie doch eine recht spezielle ist. Earlier on I'd found some of the language inconsistent - highly articulate 11 and 13 year olds using sophisticated vocabulary also communicated in avery teen/urban/street way. I actually wonder why the sister wasn't the MC because she seemed to control most of the narrative with Nik taking a back seat and kind of going along with her sister? Wir erfahren alles aus der Sicht von Nik in der Ich-Perspektive und wie sie uns alles erzählt, so schön frech, authentisch und humorvoll, hat mir echt gut gefallen. Für mich stand daher sehr schnell fest: Die beiden Schwestern Nik und Norva möchte ich unbedingt auf ihrer kniffligen Spurensuche begleiten!
