The only tension from this book stems from the fact that even though the man in literally telling her to her face she is his and it's forever but she can't comprehend what is in front of her. I'm rating this one two stars, because while I didn't love the story or the characters (especially Lilah), the writing did have me invested - I read the book in two sittings and from the beginning of the book until around 35%, I probably cried for 20-25% of it, so it clearly did a good job of pulling on my emotional heartstrings! Another aspect may be arrest of a top communist leader which was propagated as a Naxalite boss but again the crimes or the allegations were not proven. We were supposed to be terrified of this man like he’s “in the mob” was in the military and like he’s killing a torturing people.

Like it just was so stupid it felt like the author wanted the guy to be “good” and scary which it didn’t work. I feel like we got a LOT of angst and not a lot of them finally being happy together, which I was not a fan of. Cherry, Claire Contreras, Emma Scott, Emily McIntire, Fiona Cole, Giana Darling, Alessandra Torre, Helena Hunting, Ivy Smoak, Jodi Ellen Malpas, K. In Nagpur, they chose to live in the Dalit basti, Indora, fighting battles at the forefront of various movements – for students, civil rights, women, workers, Dalits and adivasis. Later in the book they finally sleep together again, but AGAIN instead of communicating their feelings, they both assumed that the other just wanted to be friends and that the sex meant nothing, even though that wasn't true for either of them, so that was also super frustrating.
But with such deep-rooted and systemic flaws, he fails to explain how the USA could become a superpower. Most of us dread to use a public toilet but Kobad chose to live in the slums to understand ground-level situations. He wanted to know the causes of racial discrimination and read extensively on India’s colonial legacy from the books by BC Dutt, Dadabhai Naoroji and others at the British Museum Library.
