About this deal

There are some really data-crammed watch faces on this list, but the excellent neon styled Night Gleam is made by Garmin itself, and could easily ship with its premium smartwatches. Garmin sometimes errs on the side of overloading you with options, but I’d rather have too many choices than be effectively excluded from tools that may help me because of things I can’t control. This feature might be familiar to Apple Watch Ultra and Huawei Watch Ultimate users, although Garmin has also been using a similar feature for years in their Delta smartwatches.

Though there was no real separation in most instances, though, we did have a couple of interval sessions in which the Epix Pro did a better job of sticking to the chest strap's figures. If you can think of an insight you'd like or a sport you want to track, the Epix Pro probably has it, and the general accuracy and depth of features like Race Predictor, Training Readiness, Body Battery, and Garmin's Running Dynamics mean you'll have plenty to help guide you.

Endurance Score measures how easy it is to sustain prolonged efforts and is designed for, err, endurance athletes. All that’s really new here are the two new sizes of Epix PRO plus the new heart rate sensor and a few tweaks. But where Garmin watches still come into their own is with the depth of their fitness features, like the excellent Morning Report, and the Epix 2 Pro will likely get many of the ones we've seen on the Forerunner 965. Naturally, the battery life you'll get from the Epix Pro differs greatly based on which case size you actually pick up - and that's also ignoring the other variables that exist between different users.

Garmin Epix Pro (Gen 2) Review: Better Than Apple | WIRED

Unfortunately, it doesn't sound like the Epix 2 Pro will come with any new sensors that we haven't seen on its predecessor of the Garmin Fenix 7, but the rumors suggest that a flashlight could be included on the largest model. The Epix Pro also has multiband GPS, on top of all-systems GNSS, so I never really worried about wonky maps. As we mentioned in our Fenix 7 Pro review, our only concern is the potential for accidental light-ups. The list of options we've highlighted below is constantly evolving, but we've done our best to include faces with wide support for Garmin's popular Forerunner, Fenix, Venu, and Vivoactive models.

Garmin Epix Pro (Gen 2) review - Wareable

You'll need to give access to your watch's heart rate sensor, as well as barometer, temperature, and altitude history.A more accurate sensor ought to mean better health tracking because you’re getting better data — but two weeks of testing isn’t long enough for me to notice a dramatic difference just yet.
