Do Not Open is a non-linear game, and players will get different endings depending on their decisions, as well as the results of the tests they overcome through the game. This isn’t always easy as it’s glitchy – in one room it got stuck near the exit, only shifting from its position when we got perilously close. At this point it’s a good idea to run and hide, except if you keep out of sight, the entity won’t leave – it’ll just keep walking around hoping to catch a glimpse of you. Whilst I appreciate this method of storytelling, I found that too much was left to the imagination as we jump from plot point to plot point without too much substance connecting them.

Dance Room (Press R2 when in this area to see how much time you have until the monster enters the area. Unfortunately, one part of the game that isnt up to scratch is the poor voice acting of the protagonist, which became incredibly grinding every time you’d unbarricade a door to hear ‘ Good’, or for hear him screaming for his wife and daughter without a genuine bit of emotion, all whilst he’s supposed to be sneaking around and keeping quiet.

There was a nice variety of simple and complex puzzles, and I enjoyed the added challenge of the solutions changing each time you die, but the relentlessness of the demonic entity was frustrating at times. To decrease the number of playthroughs needed to earn all trophies, it is highly recommended to disable the automatic Cloud Saves of the game.During this playthrough you will want to become familiar with finding what the clues are and how to solve the puzzles as these will be similar to each new playthrough, however, the game is procedurally designed. Even better, within minutes of play we were engrossed in a tricky puzzle involving notes and a set of pictures.
