About this deal

On boot space, the Vauxhall does a very competitive but not outstanding job, according to our tape measure, putting itself ahead of the Mazda CX-3 but being beaten narrowly by the Suzuki Vitara. Four adults can happily travel together in this car, while the ISOFIX anchors and middle seat mean three children will enjoy enough space in the back. The bodysides, which otherwise might have been too slab-sided for Vauxhall’s relatively sophisticated design style, have been made to look a bit more racy by Vauxhall’s sculpting, which employs a style we first saw on the previous-generation Insignia, where they added some dynamism and made it look more rear-drive.

The original Skoda Yeti remains the closest thing to inspiration where this increasingly popular but still maturing breed is concerned. It’s a bulky-bodied, narrow-looking thing on relatively small wheels, without much ground clearance. But the throttle response is sufficiently soft at low and middling revs as to make the car feel like it’s surging off in a quite unpredictable fashion at times – at least until you get used to waiting for a second or so after any given pedal application before the engine’s response is fully delivered.

To qualify you must be in receipt of the Higher Rate Mobility Component of Disability Living Allowance (DLA), the Enhanced Rate Mobility Component of Personal Independence Payment (PIP), the War Pensioners’ Mobility Supplement (WPMS) or the Armed Forces Independence Payment (AFIP) and applications must be made with participating dealers between 1st October 2023 – 31st December 2023. It's comfortable to sit in, but doesn't have much in the way of side support to keep you propped up in corners. The Crossland X neatly avoids the pitfall that so many small crossovers stumble into in as much as it’s roomy enough inside to be an alternative to a normal five-door hatch. Storage space is not as generousas it is in the Skoda Kamiq, but you still get plenty of trays and a couple of cupholders. The Crossland was actually designed and developed as part of a joint-venture between General Motors (Vauxhall’s then-owner) and PSA (Peugeot, Citroen and DS’s parent-company). From Merrell's very first custom-made hiking boots to their latest footwear innovations, Merrell make all of their footwear with four core values in mind: Comfort, Durability, Design, and Versatility. Unlike the majority of its rivals which are now offered or even come as standard with hybrid technology, the Crossland is available exclusively with a 1.

The rear pillars are quite wide compared with those on the Skoda Kamiq, which is one of the easiest small SUVs to see out of in any direction. In 2017, the Euro NCAP awarded the Crossland X an 85% adult occupancy score and 84% for child occupants. You can appreciate that Vauxhall’s aim was to produce something comfortable, manoeuvrable, easy to use and secure, but you’ll also note that it has missed its target in a least a couple of respects. Instead, it would seem to hint at an underlying shortage of sophistication and tuning potential in the Crossland X’s suspension with which neither the latest Vauxhall Astra nor the Vauxhall Insignia suffered with. On Design and GS trim (with no adjustable boot floor), there's a step in the extended load bay with the seats folded and a bigger lip to heave items over. Some of the icons are a bit small and you'll find much quicker and more useable systems in the Seat Arona, the Skoda Kamiq and VW's T-Cross andT-Roc. The tech-Line trim and above features a 360-degree reverse camera for extra assistance and quick manoeuvring. The Crossland X features an infotainment system with a DAB radio and Bluetooth connectivity that will keep your passengers content and entertained. There's not a lot of storage space in the back, with just a couple of small door bins, and only Ultimate trim comes with a rear armrest and map pockets.

Leather seat facings are stylish and comfortable, the steering wheel is heated to stave off the chill of cold days and it adds forward collision alerts and drowsiness warnings to keep you safe on the road. Elite adds dual-zone climate control, ambient interior lighting, driver’s centre armrest, Flex Floor adjustable-height boot floor, 16-inch diamond cut alloy wheels, rear parking sensors, an alarm and tinted rear windows. There’s not much wrong with it, either, providing decent urge and a good spread of power for a largely hassle-free life, and it’s reasonably smooth and quiet, too. A high driving position gives a great view of the front of the car when navigating tight pull-ins and a good all round visibility of the road. Fuel economy and CO2 emissions are also very competitive, so fuel costs and tax bills shouldn’t be a worry, and rates for servicing, maintenance and repairs are also among the lowest in the class.
