About this deal

This is better than any single seat stroller and better than many of the double strollers depending on type. Safety and stability: we checked how sturdy and well made the buggy was and whether it provided good support for growing children. Side-by-side prams tend to be easier to fold than tandem buggies, but can have a much larger footprint. While it’s not one of the cheapest prams we tested, we think its versatility and high-quality design make it great value for money.

It isn't as small as you might think an umbrella product would be, but it is on the smaller size for a double stroller in general. The recline feels secure and smooth when in lie-flat mode, so it doesn’t disturb a sleeping child, and the harness can be adjusted for children of different ages. After months of testing, covering more than 150 miles over a variety of terrain and taking into account Mumsnet user recommendations and reviews, we reveal our winners below to help you find the best double buggy. While it is a budget friendly choice at the outset, it fails to impress overall and its size/age limitations mean you will likely have to purchase another product for newborn to 6 months, or for the later years. With built-in suspension and a handlebar brake to control speed, this is a pushchair that can tackle any terrain with ease. Editors' Choice, the B-Agile, is one of these products, and while more expensive it could save you money overall by avoiding the purchase of two products as opposed to one. Smaller wheels will suit urban life but for jogging or active lifestyle, an off-road double buggy with big tyres will be better for rough ground.

The Chicco Echo Twin Stroller boasts an easy-to-use five-point harness that can be clipped into place or undone in seconds. It has dual canopies that adjust individually with zip off rear flaps for added ventilation or protection from the elements. Age range: Newborn (with carrycot) to 4 years (or age 7 in single mode) | Maximum load: 15kg per seat (or 25kg in single mode) | Weight: 12.Credit: Micah JamesThe handles on the Echo are pretty similar to the handles on the Maclaren, but they aren't executed as well.

Chicco is a renowned brand known for its wide range of strollers that combine style and functionality. The Britax B-Agile Double, our Editors' Choice winner, scored the highest in this metric with a 7 of 10. This does mean the frame can be longer and heavier though and, as the children aren’t sat next to one other, there’s less interaction – and one child will have to look at the back of a seat. Also check for any evidence of heavy wear on the edges of the wheels and make sure the fabric is intact.

It does not have an adjustable crotch strap, which isn't a big deal except this crotch strap is strangely long. It has an under seat mesh storage pocket, dual front wheels with suspension, and a 5 point harness in each seat. When testing began, Liz had a four-month-old and a four-year-old preschooler and racked up more than 150 miles in total over four months. The fabric came out of the package wrinkled, and still looked wrinkled two weeks later after sitting on the frame stretched taunt.

This allows you to easily load up the pram inside your house and wheel it straight out the front door without disturbing sleeping babies – very handy at nap time. It has more storage, is lighter, folds smaller, has a larger canopy, and works for children up to 50 pounds. The Echo Twin doesn’t claim to have a one-handed fold, as you see on the likes of the iCandy Peach 6, but with a bit of practice it can be done. We considered how suitable the pram was for a newborn and whether the harness was secure for children of different ages.

While the straps are narrow and the buckles made of light plastic, they feel secure and are adjustable for different heights, with shoulder pads for added comfort.
