Big thanks to artist and designer Courtney Wotherspoon for sharing this wonderful craft and tradition! We’ve updated the instructions to our infamous Makedo Christmas Tree - and this time around, we’re also working on a mini table-top version! Fill the holidays with festive cheer with these easy DIY cardboard Christmas tree crafts that you can make alone, or better yet, with family and friends!un and so utterly simple that you won’t have trouble with kids running around and breaking it or getting themselves hurt tripping over it, this easy cardboard craft is the perfect low cost decor for a worry-free holiday! Finally, use the ruler to make evenly spaced cuts down both sides of the tree (be sure not to cut all the way through).
I love how this tree is well made and sturdy enough to support having actual Christmas ornaments, garland and a tree topper. With your box cutter, carefully slice down the pencil line, being sure to only pierce one side of the cardboard (leave the side that's face-down intact). If you're using very thin cardboard, you can probably skip this step and just crease your trees down the middle so that they can fold in half. And if you have any extra scraps leftover, you can always use them to make some fun Christmas ornaments! This is another fun DIY Christmas tree craft that’s perfect for kids (or adults who are young at heart).
If you’re using very thin cardboard, you can probably skip this step and just crease your trees down the middle so that they can fold in half. I really love the idea of making one of these for a child and handing them a bunch of art supplies to decorate it. Keep in mind that to create one standing tree, you’ll need three flat cardboard trees of the exact same size.
