One of the latest techniques used to clean up diesel emissions is known as selective catalytic reduction (SCR). Green D+ HVO is a drop-in replacement for Gas Oil/Red Diesel and can be used in all Diesel engines (on/off-road). A solution of urea in water is used to treat exhaust gases and remove harmful pollutants, including nitrogen oxides (NOx), of which nitrogen dioxide (NO2) is the most harmful. Some manufacturers hint at it in the brand name of their diesel engines, like the BlueHDi engines used by Citroen and Peugeot.
