About this deal

Importantly, I think, the book ends on a positive note and a call to activism for everyone, whatever age, to be involved in making better decisions and choices concerning the very real global environmental threats and issues facing the world today. She needs to put here trust in children as they are learning more about the situation and how they can help. Earth Day Cloze Activity Sheet - This resource is a great way to help children better develop their vocabulary. Earth Day Recycled Bottle Top Fine Motor Skills Activity - Encourage recycling with this fun fine motor skills activity.

Mother Earth is Weeping - UK NAEE

Not only entertaining but educational too and a great resource for the classroom. (I am a retired teacher.) The story is essentially a conversation between the celestial bodies about Mother Earths concerns for her future and the reassurance she gets from Moon and Sun.Writing with adult voices allowed me to use extended vocabulary that will enhance children’s language development. At the end of the story there is a little glossary and list of organisations for children who want to learn more. Mother Earth shares her worries for the future, but is reassured by Moon and Sun that ‘she might not escape unscathed but she can still be saved’.

The themes explored in the book – habitat destruction, pollution, climate change, land use and poverty – could not be more current, nor the idea that young people may become passionate advocators for environmental issues Our Mother Earth Colouring Sheet features a lovely, hand-drawn image of Mother Earth showcasing earth in all its glory. This resource makes for a brilliant addition to a lesson on nature, the environment, recycling, and more. Your learners will love bringing colour to the image and displaying it proudly in their classroom or at home.I was a primary school teacher (specialising in Early Years and Special Education) before becoming an author and I draw heavily on the experiences and knowledge gained during that time when writing my stories. Indeed many stories typically have an educational slant and are great resources for teaching and learning. Mother Earth is a goddess found in various different mythologies. She personifies the earth and is perceived as the giver and protector of life. This means that to hurt the earth is to hurt Mother Earth. Using Mother Earth can be a great way to help children understand ecological issues and the importance of protecting our environment. In the classroom, the ideas and issues raised in the book would provide a primary classroom teacher with a wide range of teaching and learning opportunities, either as starting points for discussion or to support deeper investigation and research which could then provide material to be used across a wide range of curriculum areas. This slim little book follows Mother Earth as she shares her worries with the moon about the negative environmental impact that people are having on the planet. Turning to the Sun, Mother Earth and the Moon are cheered by the Sun’s belief that there is capacity for the environmental damage to be reduced and reversed before it is too late. In particular, the efforts and decisions made by knowledgeable young people are highlighted as key to improving the environmental fortunes of the planet.
