About this deal

Image quality is great in a variety of different situations - just stay away from the very top end of the ISO settings if you can help it. The kit lens is a good lens to get you started, but the flexibility to buy others if you want to is something you don’t get with premium compact cameras, and is appealing for those who think they might get a bit more serious down the line. The rating for image quality is based on using the Panasonic GX800 with the kit lens - you can get even more from the camera’s excellent sensor if you invest in additional, higher quality optics. Its GX series aimed at enthusiast photographers is a case in point. The GX1 was a viewfinderless fixed-screen camera designed as a spiritual successor to the much-loved GF1. Its replacement, the GX7, was a slightly larger camera with a built-in, tilting electronic viewfinder, a tilting LCD screen and in a first for Panasonic, in-body image stabilization.

Use a card with SD Speed Class with "UHS-I UHS Speed Class 3 (U3)" when recording motion pictures with [MP4] in [4K] or [4K PHOTO]. (SD speed class is the speed standard regarding continuous writing.)Use a card with SD Speed Class with "Class 4" or higher when recording motion pictures in [AVCHD] or [MP4 (under 28Mbps)]. While Panasonic was the first company to make a compact system camera with the G1 in 2008, in the intervening years it’s not really settled on any specific kind of design. Users can utilise the 4K PHOTO technology to capture fleeting photo opportunities at 30 fps by extracting the best frame out of a 4K burst file to save as a photo. In 4K PHOTO, three modes can be chosen from depending on the situation; 4K Burst, 4K Burst (Start/Stop) and 4K Pre-burst. All of these functions in 4K PHOTO let the user save pictures in 8-megapixel equivalent high resolution, which is good enough for printing in A3 size, and help to avoid missing those spur-of-the-moment shots. Sell the kit you’re not using to MPB. Trade in for the kit you need to create. Buy used, spend less and get more. Buy. Sell. Trade. Create. The name Fujica may sound peculiar to some but earlier FUJIFILM cameras were marketed with the Fujica brandname. And since the arrival of Fujifilm X100 ten years ago, Fuji has been creating rangefinder style cameras (which still remind me that Ronson Variflame lighter) as the ones they had been producing in the Sixties.

With an amazing zoom range starting at a 12mm (35mm camera equivalent: 24mm) wide angle and moving all the way up to 32mm (35mm camera equivalent: 64mm), this lens is suitable for capturing a variety of scenes. Get dynamic landscapes, stunning indoor shots or casual snapshots as well. Thanks to its excellent mobility due to a compact build and its sleek metallic design, you’ll definitely want to make this lens an integral part of your LUMIX gear. For people who are new to digital interchangeable lens system cameras, the LUMIX GX880 provides a variety of shooting assist functions such as iA (Intelligent Auto) mode and Scene Guide. Overall, the GX800 is a great little offering from Panasonic. It comes at the same time as the full specifications for the GH5 have been announced - completely at the other end of the scale in terms of intended consumers, so it’s pleasing to see the company giving attention to a wide spectrum of intended users. The Panasonic Lumix GX800, or GX850 as it’s known in North America, is an entry-level mirrorless camera with interchangeable lenses. Announced in January 2017, it replaces the GF7 and is aimed at anyone upgrading from a phone or compact camera for better quality, control and flexibility. Like all of Panasonic’s mirrorless cameras to date, it’s based on the Micro Four Thirds system which means it works with any lens designed for that format, including a wealth of options from Panasonic and Olympus. Panasonic typically sells the GX800 / GX850 in a kit with a 12-32mm / 2.7x kit zoom that’s equivalent to 24-64mm in coverage, giving you slightly wider angle capabilities than most kit lenses. Macro performance of the kit lens is a weakness, with the closest focusing distance 20cm from the lens, and for more serious macro photography a different lens is recommended. When shooting with the sun in the frame it is possible to see some lens flare, however, this wasn't a huge issue the majority of the time.

Image Quality

The camera uses an electronic shutter over 1/500s, which is worth noting when shooting in artificial light. The shutter is very quiet. The screen is very clear and has good viewing angles, with additional controls that can be found on the screen.

There are 9 ISO settings available on the Panasonic Lumix DC-GX800. Here are some 100% crops which show the noise levels for each ISO setting, with JPEG on the left and RAW on the right. Therefore it continues to be an easy-to-use step up from your smartphone camera, easily small enough to fit inside a handbag even with the retractable kit lens attached, and offering better image quality than your phone thanks to its larger sensor. This mode switches the shutter from mechanical to electronic and turns all sound (AF, operation) off while suppressing the emission of the AF assist lamp and flash with just a single setting for special shooting occasions. AC/USB Power Charging The Panasonic Lumix GX880 is identical to the previous GX800 model in terms of its external design, with the exception of a new raised handgrip on the front. microSD Memory Card, microSDHC Memory Card, microSDXC Memory Card (Compatible with UHS-I standard SDHC / SDXC Memory Cards)

LUMIX Digital Single Lens Mirrorless Camera DC-GX880K

The Panasonic Lumix DC-GX800 is the smallest CSC in Panasonic’s line-up, and indeed it’s one of the smallest currently available on the market. You could be forgiven for thinking, especially with the small pancake kit lens attached, that it’s a premium compact camera. Which isn't to say that the GX880 is a miss rather than a hit, rather that it doesn't really add anything new that's worth paying the inevitable extra for. As you can see from the chart, the two areas the GX850 has an advantage over its direct competitors include 4K video capture and size/weight.
