Schumacher envisioned the character of Star as being a waifish blonde, similar to Meg Ryan, but he was convinced by Jason Patric to consider Jami Gertz, who had just worked with Patric in Solarbabies (1986). Schumacher was impressed, but only at Patric's insistence did he finally cast Gertz. [6] Schumacher was surprised when his first choice for the role of Lucy, Dianne Wiest, accepted the role, as she had just recently won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for Hannah and Her Sisters (1986). Slightly is described as the most conceited of the boys, because he believes that he remembers what life was like before he was "lost." However, most of his "memories" are based on misunderstandings: he claims to know what his last name is because his pinafore had the words "Slightly Soiled" written on the tag. Slightly is a poor make-believer, but he does seem to have a talent for music; he is described as cutting whistles and flutes from the branches of trees and dancing to tunes he creates himself. He grows up to marry into nobility and become a lord.

Mostly, yeah. It can't beat Alice, her best and most dynamic work. But it is a solidly entertaining story. I'm not familiar with the Peter Pan story intensely, not beyond the Disney movie anyway. It was never one of my favorites. Growing up when it was Friday night video store time, my sister without fail wanted Peter Pan or Cinderella. I would 9/10 times choose Pocahontas, the other 1/10 being The Lion King. His first mainstream horror novel, Card has stated that Lost Boys was one of his hardest to write due to the emotional nature of the subject material. [8] [9] It is widely regarded by those who have read it as some of his most intense, personal writing. [10] It was published by HarperCollins in 1992. [11] Reception [ edit ]

Lost Boy: The True Story of Captain Hook - Goodreads

For those of us that would love to see the downfall of one, Peter Pan, this would be the most delightful tale to ever be penned, I am sure. i also feel like the brutality of this story is somewhat necessary to emphasise with a character like jamie, a character that we have all come to know as a villain. so to see his origins and understand how he came to be the way he is is really important. This is a retelling of the Peter Pan story in a very dark and sinister manner. It's more like a cross between Peter Pan and Lord of the Flies if that makes any sense. The plot retains many of the primary elements that made the original so beloved, like Peter's invincibility and his promise to bring the children to his island home. But in this version, Peter isn't a naive kid, and the things that happen on his island aren't quite as magical and beautiful as he tells the kids he brings there that they will be. Prudom, Laura (July 15, 2016). " The Lost Boys Sequel Comic in the Works from Vertigo (EXCLUSIVE)". Variety. With that short trivia portion out of the way, let it be known that Lost Boy brings Captain Hook to you as you have never seen him before!

In the local comic book store, Sam meets brothers Edgar and Alan Frog, a pair of self-proclaimed vampire hunters. They give a skeptical Sam horror comics to teach him about the undead threat they claim has infiltrated the town. The Lost Boy is not only a heart-felt, gripping, true account of one child's refusal to become mired in his past, but of his immense struggle to find not only a home, but binding ties of the love of a family.

Discovering that the boat they were planning to use has been destroyed by Peter, Jamie accepts Peter's offer to perform one last Battle against him. Jamie overpowers Peter but does not succeed in killing him as Peter reveals that the island keeps him immortal. He curses Jamie to live on the island as an adult before cutting off his hand. James — James seems to be closer to Peter than any other boy at St. Norbert's. He serves as the leader to the Lost Boys when Peter is not around, making him the second-in-command. We all know the legend of the boy who didn't want to grow up. This story takes everything problematic about this notion and explores its darkness, sacrificing the lives of many of Peter's 'Lost Boys' to make its point.
