Item, Challenge and Modifier cards can all be played at any point during the game to either aid you in your quest or to disadvantage your “friends” preventing them from winning the game. The game also includes items you can equip to your heroes, 1V1 challenge cards, and roll modifiers to tip the odds in your favor.The game follows a similar concept to the original Unstable Unicorns game. It sees you strategically building an army of heroes. Your end goal is to build a mighty raid party to slay monsters of various difficulties. You must prove yourself as the greatest champion amongst your friends. Hero Cards – Each one has a class and effect, and these get added to players’ rosters throughout the game. Cards can be played at all different times during the game. Placing hero cards down straight away can give you a free one-shot bonus (which therefore costs an action to play) and strengthen your party.

Item cards must be equipped to a Hero card when they are played. This is done by sliding the item card underneath a Hero card. Only one Item card can be equipped at a time. If a Hero card is destroyed, stolen, or returned to your hand, the same is done to the Item card. Magic Cards:Magic cards are powerful cards that have a one-time effect. After the effect on the card has been used, immediately discard the card into the discard pile. Modifier Cards: Each of you will roll the two dice. If you score higher or equal to, then you win the challenge, and the player must discard the card they were attempting to play. If they roll higher or equal to you, then they win and may continue with their turn. The Here to Slay rules state that players need to create the best, most diverse team of characters that can defeat 3 monsters to win the game overall. When compared to similar roster-building games, Here to Slay has comparatively simple gameplay, which is ideal for younger players or beginners. During each player’s turn, they get 3 action points that they use with different actions using a different number of points depending on what the action chosen is.
