Today, the Ferrero family includes Thorntons chocolate, Kinder, Nutella and, of course, the range of beloved Ferrero chocolates! All of the Easter Eggs in this section of guide, at the time of writing, are gluten free and safe for people with coeliac disease. As I mentioned, most of these are down the seasonal Easter aisle so it can be a literal Easter egg hunt to find the right ones. So make sure you allow yourself enough time to make sure you’ve got the ones pictured which are safe for us to eat. You can never assume anything is safe but this Easter egg guide should help you navigate the best choices for gluten free. How to use my gluten free Easter eggs guide

Ahead of Easter Sunday (April 9, 2023) I've got a long list of gluten free, coeliac-safe Easter eggs in UK supermarkets right now. Beware of some of the vegan eggs that contain gluten free oat milk. Whilst you might see gluten free oat milk and think they are safe, they in fact are actually ‘may contain gluten’ so are still unsafe. Have you found any other gluten free Easter eggs or noticed any changes to this list since it was published? Also, Easter eggs sometimes feature other bits and bobs such as biscuit or wafer pieces which will contain gluten.

You may find one size Easter egg from a brand is gluten free, while a different size has a 'may contain' warning. The UK’s Food Standards Agency said: “Ferrero is recalling the above products. Point of sale notices will be displayed in retail stores that are selling these products. In Waitrose, you’ll find a few exclusive own-brand eggs that more than make it worth the trip over, but watch out as there are lots of own brand ones that do contain gluten or have may contains too.

They also have a good selection of dairy free including some more luxurious eggs from the like of Booja booja that you would not find in supermarkets. This list is by no means exhaustive but contains most of the major supermarket and named brands I could find on the shelves. Such an iconic gifting option, the Ferrero Rocher lends itself to a range of seasonal gift boxes that are ideal for showing loved ones what they mean. Lines such as Christmas gift sets and even the Ferrero Rocher Advent Calendar will undoubtedly cause excitement among shoppers and add an air of luxury to your shelves. Morrisons had a good selection of branded Easter eggs but disappointingly most of their own brand Easter eggs this year are may contain or contain gluten.

Most plain chocolate eggs are free from gluten but sadly some have 'may contain' warnings which mean they are not coeliac-safe. I've swept the supermarket shelves of Asda, Co-Op, Morrisons, Sainsbury's, Tesco and Waitrose to find all the Easter eggs which are gluten free. Tina Potter, the FSA’s head of incidents, had said previously: “We welcome the precautionary approach being taken by Ferrero and are advising consumers not to eat any of the products listed in the FSA alert. It is really important that consumers follow this advice to avoid the risk of becoming ill with salmonella poisoning. As always Asda has a good selection of Easter options this year. They have lots of variety in terms of branded Easter Eggs and equally their free from range is definitely one of the better ones. Important note: In 2022 the Mini Eggs Bar was gluten free, but now (2023) it has a 'may contain' warning and is NOT suitable for people with coeliac disease) If you're not avoiding dairy, many 'normal' Easter eggs are free from gluten-containing ingredients anyway. There are Aero Peppermint Eggs in this post that are gluten-free. But there are other Aero Easter egg variations which are NOT gluten-free. These notices explain to customers why the products are being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the products.
