First Impressions / Setting up The rear panel of the TX10 has a balanced XLR input, a Link output for connecting another TX10 using just one sound source, and a volume knob. Aside from the power switch and mains lead connector not shown here, there are no other controls or terminals. The Alto Professional TX310 350 Watt Active Speaker brings clear sound to a variety of live music applications. It combines power and portability, offering the same huge output you'd expect from larger systems, all in a lightweight, easy to carry format. Whether used as a main speaker or stage monitor, you'll get deep, defined bass from a 10" low frequency driver, crisp, clean highs from a 1" compression driver, and wide, even coverage from a 90 H x 60 V directivity horn. You’ll find that all the models in the TX3 series offer a 1″ titanium tweeter and importantly the same feature set. Indeed, it’s fair to say that these are a “no-frills” offering, with a basic feature set. You won’t find any smart DSP features here, and there’s only a single mic/line input. Bluetooth isn’t included either, although Alto also offers the Bluetooth Total 2 as an add-on. Loud and Proud? That means your audience will hear all the important details - no matter where they're stood. The TX310 makes precision a priority. That's why the bi-amplified design has a built-in active crossover and EQ, making it easy to manage unruly frequencies. This ensures optimum sound quality, regardless of application. On the rear panel is the usual IEC power inlet and power switch, XLR audio input, and an XLR link output for feeding the input signal to another active speaker. There are no EQ settings or mixing facilities, but you can plug a dynamic microphone directly into the speaker’s input.

Alto TX310 350W Powered PA Speaker (Single Unit)

You should get an instant answer on whether your application has been successful, though in some rare cases Klarna or V12 may need to look at the application in more detail.Introducing the Alto TX310, a 350-watt powered speaker perfect for a variety of live sound situations. With the TX3 Series, Alto Professional has created a family of powered loudspeakers suitable for your most demanding gigs, night after night. Utilizing much of the technology of our acclaimed TS3 series, the new TX3 Series delivers the power and clarity you need to sound your best. Tapping on the case reveals some panel resonances, which is not uncommon with moulded speaker enclosures, and this is most likely a contributing factor to the lower‑midrange sound coloration I heard when playing full‑range material through the TX310. I got the impression that the speaker had been voiced to give a good account of the low end and to deliver a crisp treble, but at the expense of some midrange clarity. Some low‑mid cut centred around 200Hz cleaned this up to a useful degree, especially in a vocal PA setting, as it helped tame some of that unwanted boxiness. There’s also a useful amount of mic gain if you plug a mic directly into the XLR input, which is always good to know for those ‘broken mixer’ emergencies or for basic announcement work, though there’s no opportunity to add EQ or effects if you work that way. As is usual for this type of speaker, the TX310 is a ported, bi‑amplified two‑way system, in this case pairing its long‑excursion woofer with a 1.5‑inch voice coil alongside a one‑inch titanium compression driver tweeter, crossing over at 2.5kHz. The tweeter is loaded by a full‑width horn, producing a horizontal dispersion of 90 degrees and a vertical dispersion of 60 degrees. The TX310 features a bi-amplified 2-way designs, with a long-excursion woofer and a 1-inch titanium compression driver in a precision horn. The horn design of the TX3 Series improves high-frequency performance and produces a very precise 90˚H X 60˚V radiation pattern—ideal for optimal audience coverage. monitor positioning and the full-sized steel grille gives complete driver protection. These speakers are built for continuous heavy-duty use.

Features

Power comes from Class‑D amplifiers rated at 350 Watts peak or 175 Watts continuous, and the overall system has a specified frequency response of 75Hz to 20kHz at the ‑3dB points. Protection is provided by a built‑in analogue limiter and additional thermal overload protection circuitry. Two LEDs indicate power and the presence of signal/clipping, while a rotary control adjusts the input gain, which offers enough range to cater to both line‑level and mic‑level sources. There’s also a power LED on the front panel. The maximum SPL for a single speaker is specified as 117dB at a distance of one metre, which although not massive, should be adequate for many types of small venue applications including solo artists, duos and bands without loud drum kits. The speakers are suitable for both vocals and instruments such as guitar, though you’d need the larger models and/or an additional subwoofer if planning to put bass or drums through the PA. With a little mixer EQ you can get a very workable vocal sound out of these speakers, and a pair will provide adequate volume for smaller venues... The TX310 Series are housed in rugged, lightweight, easily transportable cabinets. The trapezoidal shape enables either upright or wedge monitor positioning and the full-sized steel grille gives complete driver protection. These speakers are built for continuous heavy-duty use. Add to that a full complement of inputs/outputs and mounting options and it’s easy to see that the TX310 plays an indispensable role in your performance. Alto TX 310 – Thomann UK

While these do sound alright, especially for the money, the TX10’s strongest suits would be its portability and loudness. As I’ve mentioned, you can easily take this from your bedroom DJ / practice set-up straight to your gig, whether you choose to have it as a booth monitor or as a speaker to fill some of the quieter spaces of your venue. I can imagine some mobile guys using this as a speaker to pipe music to another room that would otherwise not be covered by their main speakers, for instance. One of the trade-offs of their light weight and therefore portability is going to be sound quality (solid, heavy speakers tend to sound better).I’ve had a handful of bad experiences with PA speakers during my teen years as a “mobile” DJ (ie an excuse to pool cash with a few friends to buy gear and play parties to meet girls), but that was during the 90s when affordable active speakers were harder to find, so we had to resort to DIY-built, extremely heavy speaker cabinets and bass bins that required two people to carry them, leading to pulled muscles and almost-slipped discs. (I still have one such speaker as a keepsake from those “good ol’ days”…) That’s not to say that these don’t sound good; they’re decent, but don’t expect to get any nods from your audiophile friends. With that said, though, if you can only afford to buy a single pair of speakers for practice and gigging, these are a better move than spending the same money on DJ monitors: You can have these in your DJ practice studio, and then when it’s time to head to your gig, you can take them alongeither as party speakers or if you’re playing somewhere bigger, for a consistent monitoring experience. Sure beats blowing up your home speakers. If you're looking for a speaker that delivers professional sound time after time, look no further than Alto Professional's premium and practical speaker!
