About this deal

Bill: One of Bob's first clones. Settles in Epsilon Eridani and becomes dedicated to researching technologies for the Bob collective. Invents faster than light communication (SCUT), a variety of useful drones (to include an android body design for Bobs to inhabit), and the ability to scale up the SURGE drive to control the motion of celestial bodies without directly modifying the object. Eternal English: Averted, but oddly so; 2149 English is nearly incomprehensible to Bob and modern readers. It's implied that FAITH deliberately modified the language in an attempt to limit seditious ideas, but no detail is given. A Brazilian replicant left behind in the Sol system. He was uploaded to a number of gunships rather than probes, so he has no real manufacturing capability, but he is the last military force standing in Sol.

The last time I got this excited about a series was when I read Old Man's War by John Scalzi. Fortunately at that time there already was a second book out so i could dive into the next part of the series. This time I will have to be patient and wait for the second book. Running Gag: Adding something to the TODO list is a pretty reliable way of guaranteeing that it'll never happen.

The initial set-up is novel and intriguing, but after establishing the core idea, the story meanders and offers more fan service (celebrating geekdom and pop culture references) than provocative food for thought. But nothing is ever simple in the Bobiverse. Bob’s descendants are out to the 24th generation now, and replicative drift has produced individuals who can barely be considered Bobs anymore. Some of them oppose Bob’s plan; others have plans of their own. The out-of-control moots are the least of the Bobiverse’s problems. Bill's second clone. He leaves for Alpha Centauri with Goku, despite the fact that they are constantly at each other's throats. Jerkass: When he finally has a conversation with Riker he doesn't even try to justify his actions and seems to have no regrets over killing hundreds of people including Homer.

Garfield talks to Bill about their working relationship, they begin fine-tuning VR physics (INCONSISTENCY NOTE: this chapter opens with a mention about the update from Riker & Homer, which is dated May in the previous chapter) The performance by the narrator was top-notch and he did a very good job with the various voices of multiple Bob copies, as well as the other characters. This is the second installment in Bobiverse Series by Dennis E. Taylor. The Bobiverse is now growing quite fats and all the Bobs have their own hands. In May 2019, Taylor was invited by Google to one of the "Talks at Google" where he gave some insight into what inspired his writings, and what his plans are for the next few years. [18] Personal life [ edit ] One of Bob's Bobs in Delta Eridani. He helps catalogue the Deltans and their behaviors, often stepping in with advice about production of observation drones and busters. He wakes up a hundred and thirteen years later as a digital copy of the original Bob, one of five replicants made from different people, all made in the hopes that one will be able to pilot a Von Neumann probe. Despite some unexpected political turmoil, Bob manages to survive Earth and escape the Sol system intact, then begins creating more Bobs. The Bobs then proceed to explore the galaxy, finding new worlds and life, find out what happened to Earth while facing hostile probes and other threats. The series is centered about Bob Johansson who has just sold off his software company and he’s looking forward to having a luxurious. There are m many places to go, several movies to watch and a lot of books to read. So, it’s rather a little bit unfair when Bob gets killed when crossing the street.

The comedic and fresh approach the to sub genre. Very believable even after leaving established Physical and universal laws. The Author can be quite insightful. A more conclusive example is found by Mario. A habitable planet sterilized completely with gamma rays, and then strip-mined.The safest place for Bob is in space, heading away from Earth at top speed. Or so he thinks. Because the universe is full of nasties, and trespassers make them mad - very mad. [1] Chapter Listing [ ] Part 1 [ ] All across the USA, people are showing up dead. The deaths don't appear to be connected in any way until one particular death occurs and gets the Secretary of Defense's attention. He arranges for a task force to investigate. Apocalypse How: When the Brazilians fired on the HEAVEN-1, this started a war. Every nation got involved, and China eventually destroyed Brazil by dropping asteroids on them. Riker and Homer arrive just as the last Brazilian warships are preparing to drop asteroids on what's left of China, which would render the Earth uninhabitable in weeks instead of decades. Once the warships are dealt with, Riker works to evacuate the fifteen million survivors, since it will take ten thousand years for Earth's biosphere to recover. The Others are a non-human sentient species which present the greatest threat to the continued existence of humans and the Bobs known so far. First detected by Mario in Chapter 57 of We are Legion Book 1. They are stated to be socially organized similar to Earth's insects, specifically those who function in large colonies, and are physiologically unlike any Earth organism. Bobs compare them to squids, mantises, and sometimes simply blobs or sacs, hinting at a possibly amorphous nature. Dennis E. Taylor is a Canadian novelist and former computer programmer known for his large scale hard science fiction stories exploring the interaction between artificial intelligence and the human condition.
