About this deal

Here’s a selection of cards I drew randomly, to give you an idea of what kind of prompts you might encounter:

Once you have finished your submission, you will turn your submission card over so the other players can’t see your response. Presenting Your Response Protected: Podcast 27: My interview with Destiny Herndon-De La Rosa of New Wave Feminists July 14, 2017

WHAT’S INCLUDED: 660 high quality word magnets, 6 metal submission cards, 100 prompt cards, storage bag, and instructions. With tons of absurd prompt cards and a new pool of words every time, this party game has infinite hilarious combinations and feels fresh every time you play After all of the players have revealed their submissions, it is time to judge who provided the best response. The game is structured so there’s not one person who’s “it” and has to sit out the fun. They also stipulated that whoever is judge of the round may chose his own answer as the winner, but it had better be awfully good; and the other players can unanimously overrule him, if necessary. Some of the funniest answers were just a word or two. So aside from potentially running out of word magnets and not having more displays to show your sentences on I’m sure you could play with a bigger player count than 6. Ransom notes are perfect for adult game nights, quirky holiday gifts, and hilarious birthday gifts for smart people. The game is rated 17+ for mature content, but can easily be made family-friendly by removing some of the prompt cards. After a player wins the current round, it is time to prepare for the next round. Take all of the magnets off each players’ submission card. Return all of these word magnets to the top of the box. A creative party game for making hilariously terrible sentences. Players respond to outlandish situations like "Tell someone you've clogged their toilet at a party" with just their limited pool of word magnets, leaving even master wordsmiths no choice but to create awesomely horrendous phrases. With hundreds of word magnets included, every round is always fresh, wildly creative, and tears-streaming-down-your-face funny.

I dearly wish I had taken more pictures, but here are two entries for the prompt “Summarize the Star Wars movies:” The magnets seem reasonably sturdy, and the little metal boards on which you arrange your thoughts are pleasing. They are like miniature baking sheets and I just liked them. You can also add in your own collection of word magnets, if you happen to have some. The whole game comes compactly stored in a small, deep box. Each round begins with the top Prompt Card being flipped over. It doesn’t matter who flips it over. One of the players will read the text on the card out loud. The round then begins. If the Prompt Card refers to the most recent judge, your submission should relate to the player that was the judge in the previous round. For this round all of the players will write a jingle for a toupee store. Throughout the game you cannot replenish the word magnets in front of you. Thus the players have less words to choose from as the game progresses. Every round was amusing, and some were hilarious. Some of the answers were downright brilliant, and it was so entertaining to see different players’ personalities expressed in their answers as they read out them out. Delivery also played an important part in how the responses were received. Once everyone has read their entry, a judge for the round is randomly chosen, and he decides whose entry is funniest and best, and that person wins the round. Everyone replenishes their word magnets and they play another round. Whoever wins five rounds wins the game. With 250 absurd prompt cards and new word magnets each turn, Ransom Notes is tears-streaming-down-your-face funny every time you play.
