About this deal

As it turns out, rumours of Radukar the Wolf’s demise have been greatly exaggerated. Now known as the Beast, his animal rage has been unleashed. He bides his time prowling Shyish and plotting revenge. Swollen with power and corrupted in form, he has retained his animal cunning, lust for power, and thirst for blood (and that wolf-pelt cloak, which honestly fits better now). Returned to Age of Sigmar by Nagash’s deathly embrace, Mannfred carved out a little piece of Shyish to call his home, setting up another empire that has all the tropes of gothic literature: tall castles, dark skies, and lots of spires. Populated by undead servants, their decaying flesh is twisted to look like Mannfred’s defeated rivals, completing the ultimate – albeit horrendous – trophy display case.

Some bloodlines are altogether different, like the animalistic Vyrkos dynasty. Talking of which… Radukar the Beast If you’re interested in a broader overview of the fantastical factions that call the Mortal Realms home, have a read of our Age of Sigmar armies guide. But if the sight of immortal fiends doesn’t shake your bones, then read on.

Some useful command traits options include Soul-Crushing Contempt, which gives -1 Bravery when within 3″ of the General, pairing well with Immortal Majesty. Premeditated Violence gives exploding 6s, which is always handy, though its probably going to compete with Walking Death which causes damage to convert to mortal wounds on 6s to wound! A hideous amalgamation of bat, drake, and humanoid body, Vai is nevertheless possessed with a sliver of self-control and even conscience. She remembers the pride she felt as a fierce warrior queen, and she hasn’t allowed herself to succumb completely to her instincts.

Radukar the Beast is explicitly introduced as a returned, shapeshifted form of the villainous vampire Radukar the Wolf, the Big Bad of Warhammer Quest: Cursed City. Despite nominally being killed by the players at the climax of Cursed City’s main quest, we now know Radukar survives, gets hench, and “bides his time prowling Shyish and plotting revenge”.Embodying the true nature of all Soulblight vampires, these transformed lords revel in self-loathing. Vengorian Lords are powerful warriors and wizards – fighting at the head of Soulblight Gravelords armies from every dynasty. It’s awesome to see so many games set in the Warhammer Age of Sigmar universe. There are more ways to explore the setting than ever before. Watch this space for more news about Soul Arena as soon as we can share it. The upcoming battletome details several vampiric bloodlines, each with their own history and culture. The ancient beings that lead them are some of the strongest beings in all the Mortal Realms. Lauka Vai, the Mother of Nightmares A new (if very old) face is Radukar’s great great (we don’t really know how many greats) grandmother (grandsire?), Belladamma Volga. Clad in luxurious, somewhat slav-esque garb, and furs, and riding a huge Dire Wolf side-saddle, she’s a deeply unnerving combination of apparent physical frailty, and huge implicit threat, sat on top of what has to be one of Age of Sigmar’s simplest, but finest, scenic character bases yet. Radukar - Age of Sigmar - Lexicanum

The last survivor of an ancient race, Kragnos is like nothing we’ve seen in Warhammer Age of Sigmar. He’s worshipped as a god by the forces of Destruction, and it’s easy to see why. He towers over all but the Mega-Gargants, and tales of his might have been passed down since the Age of Myth. Overall, good changes. The old book’s spell list held up surprisingly well and keeping them intact was a good call. It’s helped further by Nagash knowing all 13 spells and given he can cast 8 spells a turn at full health, that is a lot of versatility. Bloodlines Anyway, there are 5 subfactions. As normal, it does not limit you from including anything, although some bloodlines are oriented toward a particular playstyle or grant additional battlelines. Many characters in the book are already part of a subfaction and you can include them in other stuff but they won’t gain the benefits of the legion. We’ll go over the traits of each legion and what that playstyle means, and a few choice artefacts and traits that might be worth looking at. For a full deep dive, we’ll work on a start competing within the coming weeks. Legion of Blood Nagash does return however he took another points hike pushing him up to 975 pts. His warscroll is identical to the Ossiarch Bonereapers one, although a special rule allows him to gain the Soulblight Gravelords keyword, and he does know all 13 spells in the disciple. Is this worth a 95 point price hike? Probably not. He was already suffering as it stood and I’m not sure if all those spells are worth it. It may depend if everything goes up in price in 3rd edition Age of Sigmar, similar to how the new edition of Warhammer 40,000 worked.

Battleline

Despite her enmity for Nagah, she’s not the hot-headed beast that some of her Soulblight cousins act like. Relying on a complex network of spies and political infiltrators, Neferata weaves her will through enemy factions, fracturing entire dynasties and swooping up their power to inflate her own standing. Petty grievances are not forgotten, but left to fester into justifications for war. You could use this unit to extend the aura of Legion of Blood’s Immortal Majesty, making more models run when near a Vampire. Which is kinda odd, really, changing the dynasty and heritage of unique named characters, but rules as written they’re in any dynasty or legion you so choose. At 200 points though, I don’t think even the spell or dynastic flexibility makes the unit worth it. The 60 point ‘Warhammer Underworlds warband tax’ strikes again! Battleline The artefacts continue to be stand out, with Sword of the Red Seneschals adding +1 to wound for units within 12″ of the bearer if they slew a model this turn, Bloodsaint’s Shield giving -1 to Casting within 6″ and Fragment of the Keep giving the enemy -1 to wound within 6″. All around really good artefacts here, Kastelai is a strong contender for second place. Especially since many will want to run those gorgeous new Blood Knights that came out. Avengorii Dynasty In the Age of Sigmar, the Soulblight Gravelords have again split into several dynasties. Foremost among them are the Vyrkos, Kastelai, and Avengorii clans, each with a distinct bloodline curse and magical proclivity. Submissive to a powerful patriarch or matriarch at their head, some follow the will of Nagash and attempt to prove their worth to his Mortarchs. Others pursue their bloodlust above all, ignoring the grander quarrels of their accursed kin.
