About this deal

Our signal to noise test measures image clarity, specifically the ratio of the actual image 'data' you want to capture, versus the image noise that you don't want, but will inevitably be visible when shooting at higher ISO sensitivities. The higher the score at a given ISO sensitivity, the better. Well, price difference is not small. Menus is a personal choice, EVF's are not different and Fuji's primes are not stabilized. For instance I need to preserve at least 1/200s to use 90mm f2.0 and you need good light for that, otherwise you need to increase ISO. With EM10 III and 75mm f1.8, you can go as low as 1/10-1/20 and suddenly "big" sensor loses its advantages. X-trans hasn't been a problem in years. And especially not for beginners. If anything, it is an advantage. I don't really understand why do people still bring up X-trans as being problematic. This model is only a 3 years old. And this is now a third mark version of it to just keep it fresh on the market before upgrade comes.

Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark IV review - Digital Photography Review

We tested the OM-D E-M10 II against four of its rivals: the Fujifilm X-T10, Panasonic G7 and the original Olympus E-M10. The colour error test indicates that the Mark II version of the E-M10 produces more saturated images than the Mark I. There are several ways to tailor colour to suit your preferences in-camera.Above: To increase the depth of field you can simply close the aperture down, but doing so will gradually soften the image due to diffraction and you may not still have a sufficiently large depth-of-field to cover the desired range of distances. The shot above was taken at f11. E-M10 is, and will likely always stay as very capable body who seek a ILC over smartphones and bridge cameras. But if you’re a keen photographer and can afford a little more, the new OM-D E-M5 Mark III is simply stellar. It has a higher resolution 20-megapixel sensor, faster and more advanced autofocus, superb in-body stabilization and terrific high speed shooting modes. Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark III Review - Digital Photography Review

Unusually, the E-M10’s raw files have a lower dynamic range than simultaneously captured JPEGs. Performing a bespoke conversion is likely to draw more information out of the file. We've always been huge fans of the twin control dial setup of the E-M10, as it allows you to make adjustments to both shutter speed, aperture or exposure compensation with ease when shooting manually.

Comments

The E-M10 Mark IV is the most photo-centric camera in its category. While its rivals are more geared towards video shooters, this cameras wants to be a great stills camera first and foremost – and it does a solid job. The automatic white balance and metering systems give a good account of themselves, delivering the colours and exposures that you’d expect in any given situation. Finally, the E-M10 Mark III's Art Filter (ART) collection grows to 15 with the arrival of a new Bleach Bypass effect. Above: The first image is a single frame taken at f5.6 and the band of sharp focus is fairly narrow.

Again it is a choice. You'll get better image quality with D810 and a 600mm lens but EM1 II and 300mm f4 is quite a bit smaller and lighter. Another good option is Nikon D500 and 300mm f4 VR and 1.4x teleconverter. What still amazes me is that while on digital cameras ISO doesn't change the exposure, people still expect to get Exposure Compensation to operate the non-Exposure value. Thanks, I know there is similar (and more expensive, Oz for example) pricing elsewhere, but do they think we can't see the huge differences?! Yet, some people has that loyalty to larger silicon wafer purely because the larger size and then claims things for it because of a pixel peeping and other theoretical advancements that most users can't see in real world photography! The OMD EM10 Mark III, like all Olympus OMD and PEN bodies, features built-in sensor-shift stabilisation that works with any lens you attach. The EM10 Mark III inherits the same five-axis stabilisation of its predecessor, which in turn took it from the original EM1; in theory this should offer four or five stops of compensation with almost any lens you mount.Although the E-M10 III is the entry level to the OM-D series, it's a distinctly mid-level camera. Its profusion of direct controls make it a camera with plenty of space to grow into and, even with the work done to ease access to its full set of features, it still feels like a camera aimed at people who want to do a lot more than just point and shoot.
