Full disclosure: I was sent this sample free of charge. As always I will strive to give an honest opinion on the quality of the dram and the value for money it represents. I often come across fine barrels of whisky down in the mine, and here we have a bunch of great new American oak barrels that have matured a full five years. We talked about making a Swedish malt whisky with taste influences from Bourbon to the guys, – and there it was only waiting for us. Smell: Lots of cask character, despite its relative youth. Lots of vanilla and caramel. Toffee. Cinnamon. Honey. Figs. Orange peel. Charred oak. The bourbon comes after the release last fall of Motörhead Röad Crew, an American Pale Ale that saw Brew Pipeline team up with Motörhead and Global Merchandising Services to bring the adult beverage to life.
