About this deal

Dutch album certifications – Miles Davis – Kind of Blue" (in Dutch). Nederlandse Vereniging van Producenten en Importeurs van beeld- en geluidsdragers . Retrieved February 7, 2015. Enter Kind of Blue in the "Artiest of titel" box. Select 1996 in the drop-down menu saying "Alle jaargangen". You really do feel like you're in the recording studio with the band; the realism of the room is that stark. I've heard the UHQR called the "apex release," and can confirm this to be true. It is, simply put, a stunning record." — Eric Pye, ecoustics.com. Read Pye's entire review here.

My copy is 17603. I have none of the issues that many describes. I have only re-presses to compare to, anyway, this one sound phenomenal out of my Proac; I can only imagine how an OG press may sounds, if it's true that the OG blown it away . Can someone confirm the sound compared with a first o second press? Thank you Philips Compact Cassette versions of the original album prior to the Jazz Masterpiece remaster, and of the 1987 Jazz Masterpiece remaster. Neither are at the correct speed. Will buy the new versions. If there’s a recording to have the presumably best version of, then KOB. Since its release on August 17, 1959, [34] Kind of Blue has been regarded by critics as Davis's greatest work. It is his most acclaimed album, and became, along with Davis's 1970 album Bitches Brew, his best-selling record, cementing him as one of the most successful jazz artists in history. [35] [36] [37] [38] [39] Music writer Chris Morris cited Kind of Blue as "the distillation of Davis's art." [40] Cobb said the album "must have been made in heaven". [41]This disc is amazing, even on my modest system. I've mostly listened to Kind of Blue on CD for many years. Playing this LP was like listening to it for the first time. Does every LP release need to be approved by every consumer? Nothing is for everybody. If you don't want the new pressing by Analogue Productions, don't buy it. Why turn the release into an argument? Kind of Blue is based entirely on modality, diverging from Davis's earlier hard bop style of jazz with its complex chord progression and improvisation. [6] The entire album was a series of modal sketches, with each performer given a set of scales that encompassed the parameters of their improvisation and style. [22] This recording style contrasted with the typical preparation of providing musicians with the complete score or, for improvisational jazz, providing the musicians with a chord progression or series of harmonies. [3] Was hoping it would be the highly regarded 2013 mono mastering, or at the very least, a mono pressing as shown in their images.

Davis, Miles; Jeff Sultanof (2002). Miles Davis – Birth of the Cool Complete Score Book. US: Hal Leonard. pp.2–3. ISBN 0634006827. Archived from the original on November 6, 2012 . Retrieved February 22, 2011.I have the Classic Records version which I thought was a great pressing, this AP UHQR version blows it out of the water! The clarity is stunning! Wide soundstage and deep imaging! Most of the static sound at the beginning of the Classic version is absent. The only glaring omission by AP are pics of bassist, Paul Chambers, and drummer, the recently deceased Jimmy Cobb (May 2020), the last remaining member of the 1st great Miles Davis septet (though he sat in only for FF, Wynton Kelly is also missing). Not sure how you guys missed that one, but Paul, Jimmy, & Wynton, we appreciate your contributions to make this arguably the best jazz album! The sound quality of this release is beyond any other copy ever released, and I can’t add anything else that hasn’t already been said by the previous reviewers. I wanted the pressing to be perfection like the first two UHQR’s, but unfortunately perfection isn’t always attainable, hence the four stars. I can’t wait to see what the next UHQR title will be, but count me in.
