About this deal

If there’s one truly iconic perfume that embodies old-school sophistication, I would say it’s Chanel No. 5. The only potential downside? It’s heavy on the powder-y vibes. So if you want a scent that still commands a room but feels a bit more modern, try Coco Mademoiselle. It’s slightly sweeter (thanks to the addition of orange citrus), but will still make you feel v profesh and empowered during your next work presentation.

Perfumes and Fragrances of 2021 - Cosmopolitan 22 Best Winter Perfumes and Fragrances of 2021 - Cosmopolitan

The notes of coffee beans, centifolia rose, and pink peony smell absolutely delightful, and the fancy schmancy travel case is spill-proof and TSA-approved too. This fragrance has been reincarnated many times over the years, but this is *hands down* the best one yet...

Not all vanilla perfumes have to have a strong, projecting sillage. Enter: Eauso Vert’s Vanilla Embers, which combines sweet vanilla bean with a mix of woodsy and spicy notes to tone down the sugared factor. It makes this perfume so low-key and chill to wear every day. But you could easily layer it with other stronger perfumes to pump up the sweetness when you want it. This cheap perfume reminds me of laundry detergent, in the best possible way. It’s fresh and cozy, kind of like a Sunday afternoon. It’s the perfect everyday scent because of the subtle bergamot, peony, and amber notes. Plus, it’s a clean fragrance, meaning there’s nothing questionable in the formula (aka no sulfates, parabens, or phthalates). Describing a perfume as “unpredictable” might sound like a slight, but when it comes to this fragrance, I promise it’s not. Inside this gorgeous, pink and blue bottle is a f lowery combo of tuberose, jasmine, and orange blossom, all of which work together to exude crispness without smelling powdery.

Say hello to your new favorite scent. This affordable perfume is actually a mist (it's lighter and less concentrated than a regular EDP or EDT) and can be used to fragrance your body and hair. The warm notes of vanilla and caramel are a total treat. You know those fragrances that are just so intoxicating you have to walk up to someone and ask what they’re wearing? That’s what happens every time I wear this. The scent itself is a musky, ~sexy~ scent that lingers everywhere you go. Yes, neroli and patchouli are both potent notes on their own, but when paired with the citrusy orange blossom and fruity raspberry in this scent, the combination turns almost tropical, like a candlelit dinner on a yacht in the Bahamas (which, tbh, will be the closest I ever get to that). The citrus notes are a bit more medicinal and sharp than a usual bright, bursting fruity note, which gives it that cleaning-supplies vibe that some might find a bit strong. But I actually love it—the vetiver addition makes it a bit spicier and smoother. I’m legit obsessed with Le Monde Gourmande, an affordable line of fragrances that includes this light and sweet vanilla perfume. It’s definitely decadent— hello, vanilla, brown sugar, and apricot—but the amber and jasmine help tone it down a bit from being too rich and heavy. I actually wear this in big crowds a lot without worrying it’ll give someone a headache. Siena Gagliano is a contributing beauty editor at Cosmopolitan, and has three years of experience writing about beauty, fashion, and lifestyle news. She’s an expert at researching and writing beauty stories, like the best vanilla perfumes and the best new perfumes, and feels especially knowledgeable in cheap perfumes thanks to her extensive perfume collection. She regularly tests and analyzes perfume on herself for efficacy to assess new products and brands. So because I’m obsessed with perfumes, I did the very hard work of going through all of my fragrances (all 89 of them—for real) to compile a full list of the absolute best vanilla perfumes I’ve ever tested. I found summer scents, cheap perfumes, new perfumes, and long-lasting fragrances that all have a vanilla note—and not all of them are sweet, tbh! Peep all of my faves here: Hi, I get it: Not everyone wants their perfume to make them smell like they were just rolling around in a field of flowers. So hear me out when I say this peony-spiked scent will get a gold star from even the staunchest of floral perfume haters. It leans warm and spicy (thanks to notes of rhubarb, patchouli, and musk), so the peony notes feel smokey and sweet, instead of powdery and stuffy.
