Both the E.L.F. Cosmetics Hydrating Camo Concealer ( available at Target) and the E.L.F. Cosmetics 16HR Camo Concealer ( available at Target) felt heavy and looked dry on my skin, though the Hydrating Camo was a tad better. If I had to use only one makeup product for the rest of my life, I would choose concealer every single time. As someone who is prone to acne scarring, has chronic dark circles and spends a lot of time trying to minimise her uneven skin tone, it's safe to say I rely heavily on concealer. Considering I don't really wear foundation, I use concealer in a myriad of ways. Not only does it disguise my under-eye bags, eradicate any signs of breakouts and cover up any redness, but it also works to even out my skin in a way that just leaves me feeling better about myself. Unfortunately, three of the five testers (myself included) got a shade that didn’t match our expectations when shopping online. In my case, “Vanilla” was much darker and tanner than I expected a “fair neutral” shade to look. The concealer looked great in isolation, but certainly didn’t match my skin tone.

Just be mindful if you have patchy, dry skin as some testers found it did cling to those areas. That’s why it’s important that any concealer in my collection is versatile enough to cover everything I want, from a full glam look or to just reducing redness on my cheeks or darkness under my eyes on “no-makeup makeup” days.As a luxury brand, I assumed the brand name would carry this concealer, and not an amazing formula (sorry, Dior). Despite my low expectations, it blended out really well with just my finger and wore beautifully on my skin. The concealer that changed the face of a nation (pun absolutely intended), Tarte's Shape Tape Contour Concealer basically sets the standard for what a full-coverage concealer can be. All 37 shades are the definition of full coverage. So while you can hide dark circles, hyperpigmentation, and any imperfections on the skin, it's still creamy enough to wear under the eyes while looking (and feeling) comfortable all day. This rich, creamy brightening formula is enriched with shea butter, jojoba oil, and vitamin E to hydrate, nourish, and pamper the under-eye area. It gives a wide-awake, refreshed look by color-correcting and concealing. It does not crease, flake, or settle into fine lines. Instead, it blends flawlessly and leaves a natural, second skin-like finish that stays all day long. Several reviewers have tested this product and lauded it for its natural and long-lasting formula.
Customize your coverage level. Build light additional layers until desired coverage level is achieved. In my mind, the right concealer is versatile enough to blend smoothly over your under-eye area without settling into fine lines. It should also cover up a pimple without clinging to any dry patches around it. Regardless of how much coverage it offers, I want it to blend seamlessly for a natural finish. A great concealer looks equally amazing as a thin layer that lets your skin show through, or when creating a blank canvas for makeup. This brightening concealer was our top choice for darker skin tones and during testing we found that it did an excellent job at covering discoloration, due to its peach undertone. The Milani Cosmetics Conceal + Perfect Longwear Concealer ( available at Target) looked dry on my skin, clung to patches as I tried to blend it out, and faded away throughout the day. Pat McGrath Labs' Skin Fetish Sublime Perfection Concealer is technically part of an entire "system" that involves an additional blurring undereye powder and concealer brush — but the concealer alone is an absolute miracle worker. Available in 36 shades, the creamy formula promises as much radiance as it does coverage, and it stays elastically smooth along all the contours of your face throughout all your most natural (and unnatural) facial expressions.Many concealers make my dry-leaning skin look powdery and just plain unnatural. This looked good whether I left it bare or set it down with powder, and it stayed all day. That said, it settled into my fine lines a little more than the Tarte concealer. The Sace Lady Pro Cosmetics Full Coverage Concealer Cream is a versatile, water-resistant, and long-wearing formula. It controls excess oil secretion and shine, leaving your skin silky smooth. This concealer covers redness, pores, under eye dark circles, shadows under eyes, scars, blemishes, and birthmarks. Its hydrating formula is smooth to apply and easy to blend. This emollient-based concealer highlights the cheeks, brow bones, and eyes while balancing your skin tone for perfect coverage, ranging from sheer to opaque. Despite CoverGirl offering the same quantity of colors as Tarte, this shade range could use an extra option in the tan and deep categories. There are eight shades in the light and medium categories, and seven shades in the tan and deep ones. Additionally, it would be easier to choose a shade if the names were reminiscent of the undertones, like Tarte’s. Still, our panelists felt that they received shades close enough to create a cohesive makeup look. When looking for a concealer, keep in mind where and why you want to use it—under your eyes, on blemishes, to accentuate the high points of your face, or even all over your face like foundation—and how much coverage you want.
