About this deal

Matska "Mattie" Belmonde (Sophia Walker), Carmilla's adoptive vampiric sister and chair of the Silas Board of Governors. Foil: Danny is a foil for Carmilla. She embodies everything that Laura thinks she wants Carmilla to be. She is brave, loyal and fights for all the right reasons. However, she is still unable to win Laura's affections away from Carmilla, revealing a lot about Laura and Carmilla's relationship. Laura goes to bed soon after, and wakes up later as a result of a bad dream. While trying to calm herself down, she recounts she had a nightmare of a girl crying and a dark figure beneath her bed. She attempted to hide from it, but it consumed her. A moment later, a sudden noise startles Laura, who whirls around in fear. Ascended Meme: "Useless lesbian vampire" (which itself has its origins in a Tumblr post ) is used in the official merch as well as the series closed captioning. Also, "tiny gay Laura".

Curb-Stomp Battle: In the Christmas special, Carmilla vs cannibalistic baker witch. Once she actually gets up and starts fighting, her opponent doesn't stand a chance. Carmilla also had one of these victories in Season 1 when Danny comes running into the room with a stake and challenges her.

Betty and Veronica: Laura (Archie) with Danny (Betty) and Carmilla (Veronica). In Season 3, the roles are reversed, with Carmilla having become much more noble via Character Development, and Danny now Drunk on the Dark Side. You would think waking up an even bigger monster from the twisted imagination of HP Lovecraft would be the end of everything. But, that doesn't really account for the fact that the thing physically cannot get itself out because the hole is too small.

Eldritch Location: Parts of the Silas library only exist after dark. It also somehow transformed JP into a digital intelligence quite a while before the technology was even invented. The ending of Season 1 is one for Carmilla, Laura, and LaFontaine, realizing they didn't kill the Anglerfish after all. Hidden Depths: In the "Underwarriors" U by Kotex video, Kirsch shows knowledge of the history of menstrual pads. While Carmilla and Laura are trapped in the library, they watch VHS tapes that document interactions between Carmilla, Perry, and Mel while they are trapped in a room where U by Kotex brand tampons are stored. These events occur a year before Laura is a student at Silas University. Adaptational Gender Identity: LaFontaine gets their name from a minor character in the original novel, Mademoiselle De Lafontaine, who's one of Laura's governesses, and an upper-class cisgender woman. In the show, LaFontaine is non-binary, and only a couple years older than Laura, now being one of her dorm's RAs.

Too Spicy for Yog-Sothoth: Carmilla claims her charm does this, making the wearer seem "wrong" to any vampire that touches them.

Trailers Always Spoil: About a week before dropping the last episodes of Season 3, KindaTV released the first teaser for The Carmilla Movie. Which many deemed an... odd choice, because it completely gives away the fact that Laura and Carmilla are both alive and well five years after the events of Season 3, not to mention the fact that the world obviously doesn't really end. A lot of fans criticized this for killing a lot of the suspense of the last few episodes. For a proper, lethal example, Vordenburg totally had it coming, so no one really thought poorly of Laura for killing him to save Carmilla. Minimalist Cast: Only ten or so people have been seen on screen, and not all of them are main characters.

And, on a much larger scale, when it turns out that everything Laura did in Season 2 played directly into the Dean's hands, allowing the events of Season 3 to happen. Possibly a subversion, though; it turns out that the universe in which nothing in Season 2 happened was in even worse shape.

This season's episodes were released differently than in previous seasons. Season three was released in three acts with several episodes released within each act. Act I consisted of episodes 1-17, Act II was episodes 18–24, and Act III was episodes 25–36. Carmilla almost goes over the horizon in the Season 3 finale after Laura's Heroic Sacrifice. At the beginning of the finale, she shouts, "I think I would like to be dead now!" Laura and Danny are, despite Carmilla's sarcastic commentary, able to determine that every girl who went missing did so at a party. Additionally, the ones who did go missing went to parties that had things supplied to them by the Alchemy Club. Carmilla points out that the members of the club in question don't have the manpower nor ability to pull off large scale kidnappings, so Laura and Danny decide to interview the women themselves. Their first interviewee, Natalie, acts out with them, paying no attention to their questions and spending much of her time performing odd actions, which leaves them both disturbed. The Unmasqued World: When the student body becomes aware of all the supernatural things happening as Silas, the university falls into chaos. Elsie (played by Paige Haight) [26] is a student at Silas University, Carmilla's 'study-buddy' in the beginning of the first season, and one of the girls who eventually went missing and was saved in season one. In season 3 she is seen again, being used as human labour for the Dean.
